Re: Bad Deal With low&slow

Issue is...even though he'll be banned he can still create a new account and come back. All you need is a change of email and address new screen name and password.

Re: Bad Deal With low&slow

Haven't heard anything from him. His phone # says its no longer in service, I have sent him emails and pm'ed him on here. Still no response. I talked to the police but it's not worth all the hassle I would have to go through for pressing charges on him. Go ahead and ban him if you want, he's not going to ever ship my parts anyways or he would have already done it.

Re: Bad Deal With low&slow

I can post the guys name and adress on here for everyone to see, but I don't know if I'm allowed to do that or not? That way if he does log in under a different screen name... at least maybe somebody could figure it out before they get screwed over by him.

An IP ban will work for a good while. A new email address won't change your IP address. And they can be tricky to get changed. Now, he could just go down to the public library and post, and use that IP address, with a new screen name. Or go to a friend's house. But he'll never be able to say he's the same guy, and if he pulls the same BS just ban that screen name and IP as well. Sooner or later he'll give up and go somewhere else or stop ripping people off. Its kind of like with my buddy's creditors. That he always lists me as a reference for. Do they have 5 phone numbers to bother me from, when looking for him? Sure. Do I have all 5 on blacklist so they can't bother me anymore? You bet.

In short, the admins could easily crack down on thieves once they're known.

Any public information is completely legal to post online. It has to be something that anyone could go down to public records and see, though. But that would include his name and address, but not his phone number.

I see he logged back in on 6-8-15. Guess his account wasn't suspended.

Doesn't look good on the part of the Admins. When I see stuff like this, it makes me question renewing my paid subscription.

This has nothing to do with the administration or the board. Don't lose focus. The onus is on low& slow...ironic.

I have no idea why you are blaming the admins for anything. They didn't steal parts.
I could be wrong, but I am almost certain the admins have a way to ban someone from posting and starting new threads, but they can still check in. I think they frequently do it in these situations so the ones being accused can check into the thread like this one.

Re: Bad Deal With low&slow

He is banned now. A few things, I thought I had replied but guess not.

1. IP banning does not work in this day and age. It has not for years. There are other ways to handle it that work a lot better.
2. Obviously we do not catch every person who rejoins using a spoofer etc.. however, most we do see and know and silently remove.
3. Not sure why it was assumed nothing was done here. The user had no access to anything but admin contact and this forum. That was done to leave a means of contact with the op since no offline info was exchanged.
4. I am truly sorry this happened to you. I should had removed the user after the first slow ship, however, I like to give folks a chance..
5. I do not feel this makes the admin look bad. We have rules in place, ways we handle things, and go above and beyond to help. Had the buyer and seller exchanged info such as phone, full name addy etc.. Then the OP could had gone to law enforcement to handle the issue as it is fraud. Blaming the staff here for the issues is really silly.

This is considered resolved on our end at this point. Sorry you had an issue. Perhaps depending upon how you paid, you can find talk to the one providing funds and finf out how to claim fraud. Good luck
