Re: The Blazer Train

for trim I ordered a camper package for the top and blazer woodgrain for the bottom. That worked out really well because the camper top package comes with a 6 inch pc for the rear so I only had to make one cut. Plus it comes with a tab to connect the two pcs together. I was really happy with the way it turned out. All of the t bolts have rubber washers on them plus we still used some strip caulk for added assurance

Re: The Blazer Train

I also finished my center console. It had a few cracks in it when I got it and someone prior had cut out the seat belt area and replaced it with some wood to forum a cup holder.

Here is what it looked like when I got it

Re: The Blazer Train

So I "tried" to buy a cupholder insert a few times for it. and after biding 42 dollars for one on ebay (plus 14 dollar shipping) I gave up on that, and set out to find an alternative. Here is what I came up with.

Before today I tore the console apart stripped it down and glued / reinforced the back side of the cracks with strips of steel. I didn't do anything to the outside to keep the texture. but its solid. then painted it. The emblem was tapped off and painted back blue inside, and reassembled this is all pretty standard but this part might be new as I had not seen it on here before.

Re: The Blazer Train

then i cut off the bottom of it and trimmed it so i only had the part i wanted. i also had to shave the sides because it was a bit to wide. The sides are trimmed back almost flush with the cup holder

Re: The Blazer Train

once it fit in there the bottom on the insert hit the front on the console and wouldn't allow it to sit all the way down so i used a heat gun to dent the front just a little bit this is all it took

Re: The Blazer Train

I ordered it from classic industries. I tried a few times to get some from Mar-k but was always turned away. anyways it is a "longhorn" kit. It comes with the rear 6" pcs so I only had to cut one piece. Plus the longhorn kit came with a "joint" piece that locks the two parts together. I think the kit cost a bit more but i think it was worth it because the last 6" now looks straight as an arrow perfect with the rest.

Re: The Blazer Train

The inside got treated to raptor liner tintable bed liner. I ordered an extra bottle of material in addition to the standard kit and it was barely enough. other than that I am happy with the results.

Re: The Blazer Train

Progress feels like it has slowed down some but still trying to get a couple small things done when I can. The motor is original as far as I can tell but it's getting messaged before going back in with vortec heads aluminum intake 1094 heAd gasket and some rubber one pc seals on the oil pan and valve covers. This is a pretty common combo on the net so I'm hoping for decent streetAble power outta it.

Photos so I can remember how it came out.

Mine will NOT be this nice or original but this is for insperation.

Re: The Blazer Train

Mine is sitting in the rails now. It has fought me the whole way. I had had paint issues. Maybe I painted it when it was too cold maybe there was some oil still on it. Who knows. I also had problems just getting the trans dipstick back in. Ended up I had to remove all the trans to motor bolt BC it's so tight in there. FYI. Don't be a dipstick like me and forget to put it and the vent in before

Re: The Blazer Train

I found this digging through old pictures. When we went to pick up the blazer I way overestimated how long it would take us to get there. So we showed up in town at like 530am and was recommended this place and if your ever WAY off the beatin path I would suggest stopping here. Lauries cafe was a great stop for breakfast and a few laughs while we killed time. While we were there a city snow plow truck ( which was actually a road grader) stopped to tell some guy having coffee he had to go home and move his car out of the street. It sounded like he was a repeat offender. Plus while we waited the people inside told us when we could call the person we were waiting to meet. This place was the definition of small town America.

Re: The Blazer Train

Not to much else to update I just been doing some small things.

It did not have a dropped pitnam arm or raised steering arm when I got it. And I drove it for a yr like that without noticing. But I had one on a parts blazer so I stuck it on. Just FYI. There is a lot of threads on this and they are all true. It's a pita to get the cones to back out and I had to do it twice.

While I was in there I repacked the hubs with grease and painted the dials.
