Re: Carb issues with secondaries
That's not a bad idea geezer. Ya I put that on out of habit from plumbing, but what you said makes sense. Figured it couldn't hurt, but not needed.
Makes sense to me Mech. |

Re: Carb issues with secondaries
If the passage ways in the intake manifold & head are pluged up with carbon, the choke will be slow to get hot.

Re: Carb issues with secondaries
IJ,
If you look at the pic you posted in post 11, you can see a hole in the top of your manifold. That looks to me like what your choke would mount to...does it line up?? Once you get that choke mounted, it should take about 10 minutes or so (+/- ) for the choke to fully open, unlocking your secondaries. But as MM said, it won't happen without firm mounting...the heat won't transfer. And this assumes the linkage/rod is properly adjusted.

Re: Carb issues with secondaries
Like the other guys said choke needs to be mounted to the manifold to soak up the heat.
once you have that figured out you need to make sure the linkage is the proper length. At 80* the choke rod should basically float in the slot on the linkage. At 70* it probably should just touch the bottom of the slot or ever so lightly begin to pull. Next time your at the part store pick up a pack of push nuts, they are like little washers that push on to the end of the linkage rod and wont push back off easily. Check out my other post and you will see what they look like on the end of my choke linkage. they are a pain in the butt to put on the first time because they are tight... the package should have several different sizes. |

Re: Carb issues with secondaries
Mr Handy, I thought the same thing but prior to putting the divorce choke on I checked and its a smooth bore. With the divorce choke there's a nipple on the bottom of it that fits in the hole, also with a nipple on the manifold where the hole on the divorce choke sits. This is why I thought it just sits there and clearly I was wrong.
