Two throttle cable trucks. Must be a regional thing. The little clips going through the firewall are tricky to get out. Careful as you go. Great tour so far.

Re: Oh man, were to begin and what to do

Did you buy the lot? Love to have the deluxe knobs from post 22.

Been through all the pics....great selection of parts. You shouldn't have any trouble getting 1-2 trucks built out of the lot.

Well, due to the untimely passing of the owner early last year, I have sorta inherited the lot.
There was another 65/66 Stepside LWB running work truck that was bartered by the wife. As the truck was leaving, I mentioned something about it and the wife had no idea what to do with the rest of the "parts". I told her that I did know what to do with them, and well now.....I guess I have some new projects.

Re: Oh man, were to begin and what to do

The truck in the garage is the one he was working on. I told the wife that it would be an honor to finish the truck for him and the family. It could possibly be a good project for his 9yo son to get involved with and my hopes would be for him to drive it when he is of age.

Re: Oh man, were to begin and what to do

I bet she'd love to have her son help. Would be really good for him too since his father obviously loved the trucks.

I have left instructions with a couple of my close truck buddies in case my wife came into the same situation. It can be overwhelming.

On top of the two truck builds and multiple rooms of parts I have, there is also 20+ years of literature, posters, dealer displays...etc also.

So sad seeing all this stuff, those are all the hopes and dreams that most of us have, and then the time bandit gets in the way.

Re: Oh man, were to begin and what to do

that's so sad seeing a guy's workshop like that. Every one of those tools lay in the cab floor he must have touched or moved, dreams never completed. Jee, I'd better get on and complete mine. Just hope if i go early the wife doesn't sell all my parts for what i told her I paid for them!

wow that 1960 c/30 is/was cool! I also notice chrome vent window and glass surround, and a v8 bell housing....looks like the only option it didn't have was deluxe gauges... I wonder what its original purpose was and why it was ordered with all the extra chrome?

Yeah, out of all the trucks, the C30 is one I have the most ideas for.
Its interesting as you said, with all of the different options on it.
One thing I noticed is that the guy used the fender from the C30 for the truck in the garage that he was working on. Not exactly sure why when he has two new fenders on the wall in the shop...

When I first saw them on the truck, it caught me off guard as they are "Apache 30" fenders, then it hit me that those are off the C30 truck.
I initial thought was to put those fenders back on the C30 and use the new fenders on the wall in there place....we will see

Re: Oh man, were to begin and what to do

I really have only scratched the surface as there are still a lot of boxes and parts that I have not found.

The real kicker is that my own personal project has been collecting dust over the years needing my attention

In the last year, I finally got her home and have been gearing up to start back on it and at least get it road worthy again.

Man, I have my hands full....

Re: Oh man, were to begin and what to do

My guess is that the "new" fenders are aftermarket repops and don't fit worth a s%$t. What a great collection to find, too bad the circumstances were not better but it sounds like you intend to honor the memory of this man and his project, and I respect you immensely for that.

The 283 in the garaged truck is out of the C30 as well?

Re: Oh man, were to begin and what to do

Also in post 22 behind the seat is the back cab trim. Very very hard to find trim and a 1960 only option and it will only work with the sail panels on that truck with the square ends. You will want to make sure it gets put up and not damaged. You can see it in the pic between the gas tank and the seat.

Yeah, be very careful with being quick to respond to Private Messages of members trying to get you to sell some of those items.
Do your research, find out how rare certain items are.
Also, you might want to look for the sails that go with that back of cab trim.

Re: Oh man, were to begin and what to do

Looks like the sails are still on the cab. The holes for the trim can be seen in the pics and then I saw the trim poking out under the seat.

Took me several years to put two sets of that trim together. Very tough to find.

The set is worth more together than split up. I'd retain it and use it on whatever project you go with. I have them on both my 63's.
