Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"
I think the Vette fuel door will work out quite nicely.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"
I installed my steel floor last night. Now I just have to lay out all of the stainless strips and drill all my holes. Once I have all the holes drilled I will take it all back out to sand prime and paint for final install. I'm really happy with the way it looks in there so far.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"
I ended up using 16 guage. I originally wanted to use 18 but I got talked out of it. This should be fairly strong I think.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"
Not much progress this weekend but was able to get all the holes drilled and fuel door in. Hopefully it wont be too long before I get some paint on it.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"
Thats the way it should be done, I'm doing the same thing. It just looks so much cleaner and finished with the pan. So many people just put the bumpers on and if they have a rear mounted tank the hangs just a little too low it just doesn't look good. Nice job right there...

Forgot to ask, where did you find your trim, local or from the guy in Canada, I know he's really expensive, I think $2500 for the set.

Did you have an issue with the driveshaft hitting the cross member, reason for the notch...

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"
Thanks Fleet58! I have to agree the Americans give the truck a great look. You are right old school never goes out of style! The fleetside trim I ended up finding a set from a guy in Calgary that he had listed on ebay for 2500.00. I Had a hard time coming to terms with spending that much on the trim but I think it makes the truck. There is a guy in Ontario Canada that is selling repop trim but its back ordered until who knows and he wants 1600.00 for a set. I was at the point of doing body work and did not want to wait. The drive shaft just rubbed on the cross member under hard load so I decided to give it a little more room. The truck sits quite low. The back bumper brackets I decided only needed the two for what I 'am going to use the truck for. If you backed into something I'm sure that bumper would fold quite easily as it is pretty light. I drove the truck for a year with the bumper mounted that way and did not see any problem with just the two brackets.
