Re: Tre 5 Customs 1980 C10 build
Also got all the floor welded back in. The Porterbuilt "bolt in body drop" isn't designed to get the truck laying pinch. Mainly because of all the extra work it requires to get it there. Well, we decided to modify the kit a little, then clearance the floor so it lays on the pinch like my customer wants. I'm sure some clearance around the trans would've been necessary, so it really wasn't much more work.

Re: Tre 5 Customs 1980 C10 build
We got the new Griffen radiator insalled. It was supposed to be a "direct fit" but we ended up welding some pieces to the side of it and using the same snapper grommets to mount it to the core support.
A look at the engine compartment so far

Re: Tre 5 Customs 1980 C10 build
Working on the engine compartment some more. Modified the Eddie Motorsports hinges to clear the tires.
Mounted the brake booster and Baer Remaster up and got the steering hooked up

Re: Tre 5 Customs 1980 C10 build
The truck is at the body shop (only two doors down from my shop) for the time being. It'll come back to get the bed done and some other small stuff before it actually gets painted. They started with the fresh metal work under the hood.

Great action on the bed floor. What actuators did you use?

Pics don't do any of the projects justice....I drive by really slow (yes like a creeper) when visiting Trend Auto. |

Re: Tre 5 Customs 1980 C10 build
Stripped everything down to nothing for paint and powder coat.
Here's a shot of some of the parts. The inside of my truck was full as well. I was able to talk my powdercoater into getting everything done in less than a week by ordering and paying for the powder myself and getting the frame sandblasted before I brought it to them. So I dropped the chassis off for blasting on Monday, picked it up Tuesday morning and headed to the powdercoater Tuesday afternoon. Then went back there with the powder from Prismatic Powder on Wednesday. They sprayed it Thursday and I picked it up Friday, arriving back at my shop around 1:30pm. We wasted no time getting it back together...

While all this was going on, Frank and his crew at IKandy Paintworks were busy on the shell of the truck.
