Re: new here! needs brake shoes...

Yes you are correct. You have a 1979 10.5" full floating 14 bolt with 3.73 gears.

I buy my brake parts locally, so I'm not sure what online supplier will ship to Sweden. Maybe Summit Racing or Rockauto?

Do you need parts other than brake parts?

Your wife's truck is really neat looking. I like how the panel pieces came together for the cab.

Re: new here! needs brake shoes...

Sorry but I do not have any of that style saddles. GM started using that style around the late 80's up into the 2000's.

Re: new here! needs brake shoes...

so finally new brakes and then some
Just wondering how the wheelbearing gets lubrication!

Maybe a stupid Question, but i wonder because i havent taken the rear brakes apart until now...

Is it from the oil in the diff than runs down the tube?
must be ...or.....

On our other cars there is grease but on this one there where grease and oil mix together..
.And that cant be right!

Re: new here! needs brake shoes...

Yes it gets lube from the DIFF. BUT you need the pack some wheel bearing grease on/in the cones when you install them or you CAN/WILL wipe out the bearings as there will be NO oil from the DIFF. for awhile .... I have seen it happen.... Also make sure there is some preload on the bearings when done (NOT LOOSE) there should be NO end play in the hub when done
