Re: I'm back with another C10 build!!!!!
lets hear it for the "all season garage"! I bet you have nicer outdoor weather than some of us driveway mechanics though. today was only 84, but at 78% humidity! I look like I took a shower.
nice work so far!

Being a fireman I am used to being outside and sweating. I am older now and just pace myself. I try not to work on the truck for more than 3 hours this time of year. It is just fun to be at home and tinker.

Re: I'm back with another C10 build!!!!!
Life has gotten in the way but I am making progress.
mocked the tilt column in to measure for new steering rod. used stock radiator side mounts, flipped sides, cut them up. I will use a fan shroud. used CaptinFab adapter plate, AWESOME! Mounted 73-87 2wd steering box.

Re: I'm back with another C10 build!!!!!
more progress.
FJ steel wheels with 235/60/17. Bed is not mounted as mods are easier when off the truck. No spacers, no rubbing, perfect. I will probably cut more out of the drop springs when all is said and done. The SBC is from a 90's Corvette. The 70 Camaro motor had a crack in it. We built this new motor from scratch. This is one of the things that set me back. Serpentine is from 90's Suburban. I will be running A/C, PS, PB, etc. This truck will have all the goodies as I plan to drive it almost every day.

Re: I'm back with another C10 build!!!!!
Just a heads up the Performance online transmission cross member needed to be modified. I had to chop the mounts that go between the frame and raise it 1.5 inches. The drive shaft angle was bad and the motor was leaning back.

Re: I'm back with another C10 build!!!!!
Got more work done today with my 2 little girls helping me out. They were a big help mounting the gas pedal. Also finished making connection between steering column and gear box thanks to Captain Fab's part. Built a new piece to go around the blazer gas tank so now the bed is sitting in the correct position (I already want to cut the lowered springs because its not low enough). I put my crusty front bumper on. I ordered the cable for the throttle, and need to find the correct steering wheel adapter to use my stock steering wheel.

Re: I'm back with another C10 build!!!!!
I agree. Wish my parents did that for me. Learning this stuff later is life sucks
I also plan on ruffing up the steering column. Too shiny for this truck!

I dont know. I ordered a Blazer tank from Brothers. Comes with the sending unit to use your factory fuel gauge too.

Re: I'm back with another C10 build!!!!!
Thank you. This truck will not be anything like my 63. This truck will be used and abused. I am not painting it. Just going to use it like a truck and drive it to my fire station every shift. Of course it will have all the modern amenities but still look like a crusty, burned up, 64 C10.

Re: I'm back with another C10 build!!!!!
I have been slacking. My buddy Dave at AZ Auto Tech is helping me get "motivated". He ran fuel and brake lines and made power steering hoses for my conversion. He also opened the rear diff and found water. The truck was sitting for 20+ years. All new 373 gears and bigger spline axles. Rear end is basically new. I hope to have this at Dino's Get Together.

Got my 350/350 up and running. Still lots of tuning to do. This should be my new daily driver soon. Next up, install the bed and wood.

More video with walk around. Drove it up and down the street. Brakes need bled, bed installed with new wood, head lights and tail lights, then A/C.

Re: I'm back with another C10 build!!!!!
You can put a 2 inch block to lower the back some more.

Re: I'm back with another C10 build!!!!!
Im happy with the back, the tires tuck just a little. The front needs to be lower. These are 18 inch FJ wheels and tires. I will check clearance when I start driving it and see what I can do.
