Very nice work Jabin! I love how that dash piece came out. I'm going to be doing an interior refresh soon and can't decide if I want to hydro graphics everything or find NOS pieces.

Re: 1977 High Sierra ole farm truck

Well, my personal opinion is that theres so many trucks with "custom" interiors, its nice to see really detailed "stock" interiors. For example, anybody can buy/order an aluminum billet dash insert-BUT, to have a correct one either NOS or restored is much more eye appealing-at least to me. But everyone has different tastes. I am an interior guy-I like to save original interiors whenever possible.

Re: 1977 High Sierra ole farm truck

We're going to have to agree to disagree there. Stock interiors (or stock restoration vehicles as a whole) get me excited too, but for me it's because I'm seeing a blank slate to start with. I still appreciate the work that goes into restoring something that someone else has thrown away to the scrap heap though, like your dash piece. Very impressive. The stock radio though... well... it looks purdy LOL!

Re: 1977 High Sierra ole farm truck

Lol yeah the stock radio is one of my nice stock ones-I used to sell them but over the years I've opted to save the really nice ones since Gbodies also use them-and I specialize in scarce interior options/pieces for those also. My father in law doesn't care about having a fancy radio-he prefers an OEM look anyway.

Now my 86 on the other hand has a GM CD player just like the one you got from me-granted its not stock for an 86, but my interior still maintains a "stockish" interior still.

A few more pics from earlier in the day....did some intake detailing, bent a serp swap specific fuel line, made a new brake booster line and added an inline filter (77 model year didn't have one originally), got an aluminum t-statbfor installing the 2 temp switches I plan to run for the stock truck shroud mounted 2-speed Motorcraft electric fan, etc. Mostly just fun stuff today.

I can understand that. I actually want to get into the G body stuff sometime too. I've always liked the rare 1980 or so LeMans/Grand Am... There was one with a shaker hood. It looked kinda like the 1977 Can Am my dad had, but the smaller body...

That bezel restored nicely! I have two ive wanted to restore but havent. Would be awesome if you could reproduce the orig woodgrain patterns. I want 77 woodgrain interior badly. So did you just shine up the chrome on it? Ive thought about using the chrome in a cam but was scared itd come out like crap

I know you have been busy making wire harnesses and now a bit of traveling but how is this project coming along? Looking forward to seeing some pics.

Re: 1977 High Sierra ole farm truck

Yes...I have some updated pics to add to this project truck-I'm going through my NOS parts to pull what we need for this truck and with my harness work I haven't gotten a lot done on it-I built all new harnesses for it but haven't made much more progress on it. I'll keep this going though with more pics soon....

Did some small stuff when I had some time...nothing major-decided to wire a new firewall bulkhead and start routing wires for all the various electrical upgrades...

The Meziere t-stat adapter will allow for 2 GM style temp switches to be cleanly integrated-these will trigger my universal 3-speed electric fan conversion harness soon to go in....

Still have some re-working to do on the AC stuff-wiring in a relay to handle the compressor load and it will also supply power to the idle solenoid too.

Re: 1977 High Sierra ole farm truck

Interior is a mess...lol. Father in law decided he wants to use 1990-91 Suburban doors after all-so now I need to build him a power mirror/window and lock harness and drill the cab for access holes.....fun fun tho! More options to add!

Re: 1977 High Sierra ole farm truck

I've been guarding this OEM perfect dash with a restored 1977 dash plaque seemingly forever! Trying to keep it out of danger until I get the interior in! In case anybody is wondering-the garage is jam packed with not only truck parts but also a ton of NOS parts for the 69 and 68 Z28s too! Space is tight in here!

Cool truck and nice work on all the upgrades. It will be fun to cruise. Those look like the same Hedman Elite headers I had on my 77.

Mocked up the core support and top plate with the RF24 Motorcraft 18" fan inside the stock truck shroud. Fan control leads will route along with my new front lighting harness.
