So after the few posts about saving and rebuilding the fenders I had the in-laws bring me the fenders to take to my trusted body guy. After showing him and discussing what I am trying to do he said he could save the fenders and all he would need is LH / 1960-66 CHEVY & GMC TRUCK FRONT FENDER BRACE-LOWER REAR SECTION. So searching around on the ole' interweb locally found one for around $30. So with that the fenders will be $300 to save and use.

Besides the brace that fender looks like it's in nice shape! Nice find on the steering column and power steering box!

Found it just in process taking off lol. Forgot a few tools. But will get it tomorrow. Will have my grandfather help me. If he helps we. Will have 4 generations of mine and my wife's family to have worked on this project. It is great having family lol. Plus I want my grandfather to help because it may be the last vehicle he helps me with. He's been working on cars since 6 years old doing engine rebuilds on his brothers cars so they could resale them. Now at 85 his time is slowing and I want to have him help.

Question for everyone...

What would you consider to be a wiring kit that is good for the cost? My in-laws decided to remove all the wiring from the truck during their tear down. Nothing marked and several wires were cut with cutters. We are trying to keep the budgets low but with something as important as wiring is something we will consider spending more on.

I would just use the original harness. "nothing marked" doesnt really scare me because the lengths put it in the vicinity and the factory harness is well documented. a new harness will require a lot of patience to lay in, unless you buy a prefab harness in which case your budget will be blown.

I was all up for that joedoh but there is quite a few things that are missing and I believe it would be easier to get a kit.

Anyone want to make a suggestion on what carb I should ideally be running. I talked to a few of my buds at work (racers and one mechanic) and they suggested a holley 750. Was curious if was really necessary. We won't be making any upgrades to the 1974 corvette 454 but we just don't want to have to buy a 2nd carb because it was too much or too lil for the engine.

750 vacumn secondary will do fine.

I agree a 750 with vacuum secondaries will be just fine for that 454. When you start getting into high lift cams and high flowing heads then you will need a big carb.
