That kind of work never is but it is always worth the effort.

After I put on the exhaust manifolds, I figured I would go with Ceramic plug wires that are 45 degree ones. I think they will clear and look the best once I have them all cut to length and dress in.

What do you guys think about the ceramic plug wires? I heard they handle the heat better than the silicone and other ones.

I've never used gaskets on factory ram horn manifolds. No leaks, no worries.

No gaskets for me, had good luck without them.

Thumbs up Re: to gasket or not to gasket, that is the question

I put the old 305 TPI in the truck back in late 80's with ram horns. Never used gaskets and never had a leak either.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

They do work better with headers. Heat resistance is good but if you don't loom your wires you can still burn them. I burned two sets before getting ceramics with 45 degree boots.

Re: to gasket or not to gasket, that is the question

Back to the gaskets. Another trick that works real well is the copper RTV. Skim coat it and it will make a great seal once its been heated once. I gave up on the metal gaskets on turbo motors and only use RTV between the turbo and manifold. Leak free without a single blown out gasket. Clean up is really easy also. A quick pass with a razor blade and the surface is clean. Nothing like when being used on the actual engine.

I've used copper rtv instead of gaskets on a set of turbo headers and it worked great

Used Percy's seal-for-good when my stainless exhaust headers warped. Made of soft aluminium. Worked great no leaks - warning you have to tork about three times. Claim to be reusable;e.
