Re: Project U S Army Sargent Slam

Looks like I am going to need to bring the bed down about 6 inches. Got the bed on and bolted up one of the fenders

Found a 5 window cab that is rust free and had the cab corners and floor done for for a good price including glass. I just need to swap my dash parts and brake booster over

Re: Project U S Army Sargent Slam

Took the old cab off the frame today. Installed the trans-dapt S10 motor mounts. But because of the fuel pump bulg sticking out of the block. I had to put the brackets on the frame and oval out the two lower drivers side frame holes. Then put the mounts on the block. Mocked up the blower motor and transmission

That's a nasty looking engine!
I like it!

Does it all stay under the hood or is it sticking out a bit?

Made a cab lift out of 2 x 4s to mount on my engine lift. Got the design off this web site. Worked perfect.

Cab is on the frame. Now I just have to make some back cab mounts out or 4x4 square tube

Re: Project U S Army Sargent Slam

My buddy Chris got the headers, power steering, inner front fenders, fenders on today. Mocked up the radiator surround and radiator. Welded the rear cab mounts and bolted the cab to the frame. We got about a spray can height between the bottom of the fender and the ground with the airbag aired out.

Looks like I don't have to cut a hole on the hood for the blower

Re: Project U S Army Sargent Slam

The bed inner fenders are Dan carpenter specialties.
They measure 28" wide ,11" high and come in 2 3/4 inch,4 inch and 7 inch depths. They cost $310 a pair. Go to dancarpenters.com

Re: Project U S Army Sargent Slam

After putting the front fenders and inner front fenders in. it turns out I need the cab to move about 2 inches . I had to order a new 4 inch set back firewall. So until I get that,my work is at a stand still. Kinda sucks

Those are pricey but man they are nice.

I look forward to seeing how that trans tunnel cover works out for you. It looks like your cab and motor are set about the same as mine. I had seen that cover before but was hesitant to order it, it looked like it might be a bit tight on mine.

Looking good! nice work! yes those tub look really nice, almost look like spun aluminum...

If you havent bought that firewall yet, you might try ACE hardware and just get a Steel Wheel barrow and cut it up.... I just learned that myself and going that route on my 57 with a BBC.

Don't think I like the painted bumper look to much. I think I'm going chrome instead

Re: Project U S Army Sargent Slam

cut out the old firewall with the plasma today. I like the look of the top of the firewall and don't want to redo the hinge spring bolts.so I am only doing a partial.
