Re: 1966 K10 SWB Sepside Goldie

The interior color in '66 was fawn for the entire interior expect for the dash which was dark fawn. I believe the dash bezel would have been black.

Re: 1966 K10 SWB Sepside Goldie

Thanks 61 K10.
Capn yes Robs friend did paint it, pretty happy with the results, but took a lot longer then originally anticipated.
Lots of work to do now, but it will be fun seeing it go together.
Working on the brake linkage for the power brakes will be the first project..

Re: 1966 K10 SWB Sepside Goldie

Just read your build, you are making good progress, very nice truck!
The GM Heritage Center-web site is very helpful and a good resource, in that it provides a lot original information / specification / options available. At the bottom of the home page you can follow link to car and truck information. It is also good to review information on other years, e.g ......1964, 1965, as these different year materials provide additional information, not repeated in all years. Ride height specifications for different spring options is an example, for condition empty and at max GVW. To get information on all options, it is good to look at different years.

Thanks for sharing you build, and as alway, everybody needs pictures of what is happening on your truck.

Re: 1966 K10 SWB Sepside Goldie

Ok I am working on the interior of my truck. A couple of coats of undercoating, some sound deadening material, from Home Depot, and the underlayment.
Now I am working on the vinyl floor mat from Stock Interiors and I am running into an issue on the fitment on the firewall above the hump. It is not fitting at all see pictures. Has anybody else had this issue..

Re: 1966 K10 SWB Sepside Goldie

I don't know if this will help the issue, but is it cold or warm in your shop? From what I have read, the floor mats are much easier to deal with when they are nice and warm. I know that can be a bit of a challenge this time of year.

Re: 1966 K10 SWB Sepside Goldie

Yes the shop is about 72 and I had a heater in the truck to get the mat nice and pliable.
I ended up cuting that formation out per stock interiors. Fitting nice now.

Re: 1966 K10 SWB Sepside Goldie

OK some more progress.
The vinyl floormat is in and looks pretty good. Now the body is going together, front clip is on. Doors assembled new weatherstripping. And got ole Goldie fired up running like a top.
Next is to finish up the wiring install radio and in dash speaker, reading on here looks like the speaker maybe a PIA. This was an original radio delete truck, but I gotta have tunes..... When radio and speaker is installed I will be able to finish up the wiring and get the heater installed: oh yes side note bought the Tach for the truck, the repro one and it is not working, double checked wiring all seems correct but I do have an HEI do these tachs not work with the HEI. Any input will be appreciated on the tach issue.
I am going to get the bed panels and steps color match bed lined next week.
So thats the progress so far.....
Thanks to all the info I get here it has been invaluable!!!!!!!

Re: 1966 K10 SWB Sepside Goldie

It seems like I read that not all of the repro tachs work with an HEI. I was thinking that someone has one that will, but I do not know who or where to look. Hopefully someone will chime in that does.

The under dash speaker is not difficult as long as you don't have to have an original. A piece of 1/4" MDF and a couple of 4 or 4.5" speakers. I have a piece of 1/4" MDF at the shop if you need a piece.

Re: 1966 K10 SWB Sepside Goldie

Well got some more done today
Picked up the bed from the local Linex nice job.
They did a color match and did the steps rock guards and the bed panels.
I am having trouble with getting my brakes to work, added dual master and power to them no leaks, breaks are adjusted but not getting any pedal.
Well here is a couple more pix.

Re: 1966 K10 SWB Sepside Goldie

Added the Custom Autosound stereo and the dual in dash speaker, then installed the amplified sub for under the seat didnt get a picture but it sounds pretty good. Wont rattle the windows but like I said sounds good. Also thinking of putting in a couple of underseat speakers looking at the Pioneer TS-X200 surface mounts. Still have not decided on the pioneers. Sorry no pictures will get some when I get back home.
I do have a couple picts of the test fit of the step bumper I really like the fit and the frame and the bumper mounts line up great, I think some flat stock can be used to build the mounts. I do have a couple of pictures of the test fit of the bumper.
All for now, Oh but I am still looking for information on the repro Tach that is not working with the HEI.
Many thanks for any and all help...

Re: 1966 K10 SWB Sepside Goldie

Still plugging along.
Got the rear fenders on and working on wiring up taillights, trailer light hookup, and backup lights. Also installed the spare tire mount.
A local glass company has now gone through three windshields and cracked all three, they are trying again today..
Getting closer to the test drive now.....

Re: 1966 K10 SWB Sepside Goldie

The 64-5-6 windshields are not that difficult to install. Maybe they aren't using a quality rubber? It's been quite a few years but I have had those windshields installed by both Safelite and Roadsport. A couple weeks ago I watched a guy from Grizzly install a windshield in an '87 which uses a rubber seal. The guy seemed to know what he was doing and got it done quickly.
