Grebus1- I don't think it was in the Seattle area anytime recently. I bought it from a guy in McCleary (SMALL town about 25 miles SW of Olympia) It was stilling in his driveway and I don't think it had run for some time. I had to wash some serious mold off of this thing. It really did clean up good, but my right arm feels like it is going to fall off today because of all the scrubbing!:p

Looks interesting, I've got a couple questions, sorry if you already answered them. What size motor is in it and do you have any pics of the kickpanels and firewall/cowl area? I know my loved to rust out in those spots.

Spanky Pete- The guy told me it was the original motor in it and the options sheet reads 350, but it isn't all together and I don't have the time to see if it works or not. The guy just said the engine "got hot" so you may get it home and find out it runs great I really don't know. I will go out and take some pics of the cowl firewall area and the kickpanels. I also have pictures of all the areas that have rust so you can make an informed decision if this is the Suburban for you. It does have some rust, but in VERY fixable areas.

1970blazin, PM me your contact info, I'll try to convince the wife not to kill me for looking at another truck. Too bad it doesn't run though, that's sure to get me some grief. She's still irked about my '67 sitting in her parking spot.
 I see Goodmark is making front doors for Blazers and Suburbans now, anybody know if anyone making patch panels for the section behind the rear wheel wells yet? What about third door sills? |

Pretty nice looking and cheap burb if that's what you're looking for.
Nice drop, wheels and tires, and some paint and man o man, pretty dang nice family cruser.

I sold one just like that to a board member a few years ago that was in the service and moving to San Diego from Washington. It had the same tank under the seat! I know it isnt the same Burb as mine was a fire recovery and was a big block. It had an A/C burn on the roof air.
Same color though! Could have been sold at the same dealer and they had an "in" with a gas tank co. and offered these as a dealer installed option. Hmmmmmm small world!

the paint looks alot like mine.... oxidation i think ... a product called "black again" seems to make this alittle less noticable .....

Hey my wife has suddenly out of the blue developed an interest in suburbans. I'm willing to come down and take a look (if you don't have any other people who are seriously interested).
I also might be able to help you determine if it's runnable. Looks like you need some hoses, probably a new battery. Got any engine pics? I'll send you a PM.

I agree on this being good looking truck for fair price. Have driven much worse looking and still gotten lots of comments. It is good truck for money and can be driven as-is and fixed over time. Burbs are definitly gaining popularity ground. I always gave my dad a hard time for his afection for these, he was way ahead of his time.
As for negative comments.... owner asked for opinions but I think its good board edicate to refrain from bashing. Keep that kind of stuff to yourself or in personal emails amoungst 2 individuals.

"piece of junk" and "nice project" are relative terms. Please be logical and descriptive about what you see, and don't be so subjective and vague.
Spanky_Pete: let people decide whether or not they want to go see it based on facts, and not subjective opinion they can't quantify. In other words if you list out specific things you see as concerns based on seeing it in person then that's both good and constructive feedback people can use to make decisions. What you said just sabotages 1970blazin's efforts to sell his vehicle, and doesn't accomplish anything. To be honest I would be more inclined to go see it now after what you said than before, just to see if you're wrong. If you'd been specific maybe I wouldn't feel that way... BTW: I passed it up not because I went and saw it, but because my wife was the candidate for this vehicle and she doesn't think it's a good time to tackle another project. That's just an FYI. If it was a good time I'd be all over it. Good luck selling it, 1970blazin.

Guess I will jump in here too. I am doing most of the posting on here (Diane) and my husband Ken is the guy that Spanky Pete met this weekend to view this suburban. I am a little upset that Spanky is saying "Those pictures do not paint it in a accurate light at all" As everyone always says these trucks look better in pictures than in person. Also what makes a rig a "nasty one" like you describe it Pete???....that being said I am a VERY honest person and I tried to describe what I saw so that guys could come and look at this suburban without feeling like they were wasting time. I also have pictures of ALL the rust spots and offered to email them to ANYONE coming to look. I also have posted a TON of pics to try to show it in a TRUE light. I agree with all the other guys (COBALT, Cheyenne10 ect.) that said NEGATIVE comments are rude and not welcome in a FOR SALE thread. I put for sale at $1250 OR BEST OFFER for a reason. That reason being that I am new to Burbs and really am not sure what this truck is worth. I spent the day last sunday washing and cleaning out this Burb. I think I could part it and sell the seats, doors and such and make at least $700.00! I think it is better to keep a vehicle like this in one piece myself.

Like I stated, I'm sorry for crapping on your thread. However, regardless of wether it was you not knowing much about the burb, or picking and choosing what info you made known, I feel like I was misled. To clarify: This is FAR from a "nice original suburban" it's a wreck someone stole parts from and then tried to piece back together with poor paint and lots of bondo. There are no usable body panels left in it. There might be some interior parts and glass but little else. The motor and tranny are a complete throw away. All in all, there is a reason that this suburban was part of a packaged deal. The previous owner stole anything usefull off of it and was happy to get it out of his driveway. That said, good luck with it, and I'm sorry for the bad blood this will cause. I just hope you make it more clear what it is you're trying to sell. |

For anyone else who may be interested:
I did find out that the 3/4 ton running gear was put on by a previous owner. The numbers on the glovebox, door, and door jamb match, but are for a 1/2 ton Burb. I know there are patch panels for most of the rust spots. I am willing to lower the price if when you look at it you think it is worth less. I am just trying to get rid of this and make a buck in the process. I will try to answer all your questions to the best of my ability. I personally didn't see any bondo, and I thought the paint was original- maybe others know better. I also think it is pretty clean, and yes it does have rust. The engine does not run, and is missing some parts. If I have missed anything I apologize, but I guess that would be why you should come look at it and not buy it sight unseen
