I found my old man's truck 9 years later... see sig for story.

I request a used vehicle info package based on the VIN and reversed look up to find it.

2. Her Father is the last one to see it and refused to tell you where it went.

Start with the Dad like other members have suggested. I'm guessing he knows where it went. If you did something in the past that contributed to the current situation you might try contacting him to apologize for past behavior and see how he responds. It's always possible he will tell you the truth if he senses that your are sorry for what happened. I've never known a Father to do something like that without a self-perceived provocation. An honest apology usually does wonders for past wrongs.

If he's childish, won't cooperate, and you do contact Law Enforcement, you'll have a record of attempting to communicate with him. Most LEO's will try harder if they see that you have tried already in a Mature manner.

I'm actually a female, the ex has since passed away and the father is just extremely childish. I have attempted to make contact with him, his father, an ex gf he was seeing after me, his son, etc. Unfortunately, they either really didn't know or refuse to come off the information. It was completely careless of me not to know where he took it, but again I believed he was trying to help find an engine for it not to mention I didn't have the means at the time or any other way to get it moved to the mechanic's. I'm aware it could be crushed at this point, I'd just like to be able to know one way or the other.

Good luck on the search, but as another poster above mentioned, even with a title, you may not have the right to legal ownership of the truck even if you do come across it. If it was left at the mechanic's place and a lien was filed against it and a title for the truck was secured to sell and pay for money owed, then the truck is not considered stolen and legally belongs to the new owner. Just be aware that this is something you may run into.

I would touch base with a Tag Agent again and see if there is any activity on the VIN.

Might do a search of Craigslist and see if it shows up there. Might have to do a Wayback search if CL doesn't keep records that far back.

Since you have the title, file a claim against the ex's estate for the truck or monetary equivalent. Will need to do before probate is finalized. The estate personal representative may well have records for where the truck wound up and what happened to it. Might want to contact a lawyer and make sure you make the filing properly.
