I agree that looks awesome. I would have never thought white roof but that looks great. White walls a must! Are you doing a roll pan in the back or a painted rear bumper?

Painted rear bumper. Still undecided about pinner whites or wide whites... Pinner Whites have the 60's vibe to me and are cheaper. I am putting wide whites on my 51 studebaker truck so I think I'd like to define each truck by the decade... If that makes sense.

Re: Shortbed 63 GMC fleetside build by jcox68rt
Well it's been a while since I've posted. I did finally mount my rear bumper and paint my front bumper & grill.
Last month I finally pulled the trigger and pulled the bed off to notch the frame and ad lowering shackles. In the process I found an 87 long bed and dismantled it and I am using the floor of it and raising the bed floor about 3" so I can actually route a gas filler hose to the bed or wheel well. It's been a pain cutting and stitching it all back together without any help. |

Couple more pics of bed floor. I guess I didn't take any of the rear frame cleaned up notched and painted...

Been putting in a few hours a day this week while the kids were at school. Getting close to wrapping up the steel bed floor conversion and raising. Now the fuel filler will be smooth and out of the way in the rear drivers wheel well.
I'm digging the new lower stance!! |

Man I love welding... But stitching this much uneven sheetmetal back together is getting old.. Ha! Should be done tomorrow. Forgot to get a picture today. Tune in tomorrow.

Finally finished stitch welding the bed floor today. And then began grinding the welds down smooth. Also got the rear bumper painted. Have yet to install it. Will get it all but toned up and raptor lined early next week hopefully.

Re: Shortbed 63 GMC fleetside build by jcox68rt
Early 2017 saw a small under dash fire to my truck, not sure what happened but been collecting parts for full rewire with new gauges, steering column, stereo, etc. Spent the year building a new shop and kitchen remodel and flooring remodel in the house. With all that wrapping up, I’m finally getting back to work on the 63, stay tuned!
