I feel like the odd man out... I vote the stock steelies and caps! Could paint the caps or have them chromed and painted like in 68 which might help make them more appealing. Can always change the cap and change the look pretty easy and quick.

i'll vote blackwalls (but I like RWLs too...) The most important thing is size choice - fill the wheelwell and you'll be good to go.

I'm open minded. I like blackwalls, RWL, and whitewalls all in the right application. Variety is the spice of my life

Lugs will be chrome too.

What the wheels are replacing...

I voted black. What wheels are those? They look good

That wasn't one of the choices, but you're not alone. In addition to the steelies, I'd run skinny whitewalls too.

Too quote Luigi..."No, no, no! You don't know what you want! Luigi know what you want. Black-wall tires, they blend into the pavement, but these white-wall tires, they say look at me, here I am, love me."

How old is your son?

I disagree about the "white lettering is for teenagers statement". White letters are for teenagers with 30 years of experience(AKA middle age guys who grew up with them).I dont see any young guys with white lettering in my state. Classic Hot Rods and Sporty trucks look great with white lettering but I would go blackwall out with that particular wheel. If you son is under 25 I would play it safe, blackwalls.

Re: Lettering - yeh or neh

The only time white letters are cool at all is when they are on good name tires. It's totally uncool to show off some off brand company. The company has to be tied to racing.

Well said.

He's 15. Truck has been in the family since my wife's grandfather bought it new. I haven't had time lately to give it the attention it needs/deserves. Son came to me a while back and asked if he could take it on as a project and make it his driver rather than just saving for a cheaper newer car. So we agreed and he's been working on it.

Thanks for all the input and photoshop guys. Will give it some thought and come up with a final game plan.

Re: Lettering - yeh or neh

IMO this is the order from best to worst:
1) Blackwalls. No ifs, ands or buts.
2) RWL - They look ok with BFG's, that's about it. I don't like advertising unless I'm getting them for free. However I do like RWL on the insides of the tires!
3) Up on jackstands with no tires at all.
4) Whitewalls. They just have no place on these trucks. Can't stand them. Once again, this is strictly my opinion.

Jocko brought it up earlier... I think what's more important is getting the right size that fills up the wheel wells. Nothing worse than a nice truck with rubberbands for tires.

Both of my rides. Notice BLACKWALLS.

Which is exactly what we're getting rid of. I think they are the originals. Can't imagine why this truck would be done with such small tires. This thing used to pull a gooseneck RV years ago. Can you imagine!

Re: Lettering - yeh or neh

Raised white letters are for Camaro's and Chevelle's.
Putting RWL's on our trucks is like putting them on an Impala, it was never ,meant to be.
I'd vote for blackwalls .
Just my 2 cents.

Re: Lettering - yeh or neh

Whitewalls don't belong on C/20s. In fact, there have never been 16" or 16.5" whitewalls ever made as far as I know. Now on C/10s, someone better tell GM, because they designed the top-of-the-line 67-72 trucks to have whitewalls. Whitewalls were very popular, only budget cars had blackwalls and performance had RWL, in the era these trucks are from.
One of the most popular trucks on this sight...ever:

There were Impalas SSs just the same as there were Chevelle and Camaro SSs. Don't forget Nova SS. In '67 GM built it's first sport truck, the Custom Sport Truck. They changed the name the last two years to Cheyenne, but once it started there have been sport trucks ever since.

Like I said, they all look great in the right application. If you don't agree with my opinion I suggest you put whatever you like on your truck.

My truck is OT for this board but I guess I am a teenager with 50 years experience. I like the white letters, but not white walls.

Have to agree with Tim on this one - "they all look great in the right application."... and 4x4's are one of those if I do say so myself.

As for teenager, I knew i was getting younger and not that other thing!, it's all in your head, right?

Re: Lettering - yeh or neh

Look at it this way.How well do you like to get down on your knees and clean white letters or white walls.Hell the only time my truck get washed is if it rains. So even tho somebody put the white out on mine I have yet to clean them.Or flip them over.
