Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger

yes absolutely keep the steelies. I vote for a set of 16.5x9.75 or widen a set of 16x7 accurides. I cant wait to lower my c20 but I want to keep it leaf in the rear.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger

Got the front bags in and newer style steering gear. I might just rebuild the drums for now and focus on the air management. I have this in the side of the garage thats only 14' wide so I cant get any good side pics of it.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger

Super Clean Truck! I almost did this same thing on my C20, but then I saw the 22" Transport wheels. I got them super cheap, so I decided to convert to 6-lug. I now have a complete 3/5 drop kit for a C-20 I need to sell...Lol.

No way.
Drop spindles (and disc brakes) is a easy 2.5" additional drop.
You won't regret it.
Look at www.performanceonline.com for C20 drop spindles.
Drop spindles help MORE with keeping your ride height low when you have the correct air pressure in the bags.

I actually have new drop spindels, front and rear disc, ball joints, bearings, tie rod ends and all to do everything but too many things going on finishing new house, snowmobile season, and busy with work I'm leaving that swap until next winter. I want to make sure its road ready this summer.

Not alot. I decided to rebuild the drums for now and probably do Porterbuilt control arms when I do the disc swap. Rebuilt a carb that I got off the board also.

Where did you find the 8 lug rear disks. I have not been able to find any and really want to keep mine 8 lug. Beautiful truck by the way.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger

What is the measurement from the ground to the wheel arch front n back? And what are the rim specs offset backspace n width? Tire size? I have done a rear c notch with a axle flip n kept it leaf mines 26 1/2 in the rear to the arch n front I did a drop spindle but need springs. Its at 30 1/2 now trying to decide on what spring and probably dropping the lower control arm pocket. Then very similar spoke design but all black wheels.

Thanks, the steering I put in a newer quicker ratio power box. I going to shoot for about 2-3" higher for a drive height. I put alot of thought and measuring into this for the backspacing and tire size. The 9" wide rim with the 50 series tire the bulge over the rim is very little. I think I can almost turn them lock to lock aired out without rubbing. I'll find out in the next few days when i get the carb done and start it up.

Started it up today and was happy to see no rubbing at all lock to lock with it aired out.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger

hmmmmm

I'm on the fence about the new rims. They look ok but the old ones have grown on me and fit the "idea" of the 8 lug stocker
