Brakes look good. I still need to sort that out.

I don't have that stamping on my 47 - 53 frame.

Cool build and the one on deck looks good too! I am tagging along.

Re: 54 PB dropmember build

Looks great. I figured it was only a matter of time before they released a setup for the AD gen. I'll be following to see how things go, will be going this route for the next build. Too deep in my s10 swap at this point.

Yes, I meant to tell you that I don't have those stamping on my frame either.

Re: 54 PB dropmember build

Thanks for checking your frames guys! I'm guessing it's just one of the few things they changed in 54-55? I can't really move forward at this point. I just want to help Nate get this figured out so I can keep moving forward. I guess I'll be starting on the cab sooner that I thought.

Subscribed. I've been looking forward to the AD Dropmember and seeing how it looks installed.

Re: 54 PB dropmember build

Looks like a cool build. Easiest path forward may be to get a different frame (49-53). you're really only using the middle section, and all the important mounting points should be the same. Lots of people can't give their old frames away.

That would be way to easy and I like doing things the hard way! Not really, but I would imagine that would push people away for the dropmember that have a 54-55 and I don't think that's what Nate would want! I have no doubt Nate will get this worked out.

That was my original plan... since I make my living by welding, but Nate wants them to be bolt on. So I'm helping him out with that.

Cool to see someone else from San Jose. It's great to see how much Nate is willing to go above and beyond.

Sucks you have to wait but very cool stuff!

Right on, I used to manage a driveline/gear shop on Rogers right off brokaw (bay shore truck and equipment). You have a nice build going on to!

What spindles are you running? I'm assuming McGaughys dropped spindles. I used 71' spindles. If so did you need to make any modifications to the spindle in order to mount the brakes?

What the Ebay seller a store or just an individual selling one kit?

I'm trying to get my brakes sorted out.

Thanks
Marc

I got lucking on the brakes and they were from a individual seller. They are cpp modular spindles. I was going to go with Mcgaughys, but no one could give me a straight answer how far they pushed the wheels out (even vendors) So I was dead set on running cpp spindles. There kit is a little more that Mcgaughys, but I would rather spend the money once and have it right. After I bought the brakes I did talk to Dave at Porterbuilt and cpp is what they used for mockup. also.

Also I'm running 73-87 ball joints because that's what the spindles were for.

Thanks. Currently I'm leaning toward using the 13" Mcgaughy's kit. They only sell as a kit so I would need to send back my spindles and buy the kit which includes the spindles (long story). a 14" brake upgrade kit is also available but it costs close to a grand. I have too many other expenses to make to lay out that much on just front brakes.

I hear yeah on other expenses! Sometimes the truck seems like a never ending money pit and then you throw in kids, wife and a house. Two weeks to bring it in, 2 days for it to be gone!

Well working 6 days a week doesn't leave much time for the project, but I finally started on the firewall. Need to clean it up and a couple more fillers, then start in the lower half.
