Re: My 62 SWB (Bomp made me do it!)

I finished up the corners last night. I only took pics of the one side.

To wrap up the back I need to fix the cab corners. One needs replaced. The other just needs some metal work and then fill all the spot weld holes up.

Re: My 62 SWB (Bomp made me do it!)

A couple more updates.

The cab is right side up once again.

We test fit the doors to make sure we didn't knock the cab out of alignment by moving it around.

I don't have pictures but we also removed the old crappy gauge cluster and tach. The manual brake booster and interior light.

Once again no pics yet but we also started working on putting the new floor plate in on the passenger side. It's tacked in and I need to add some additional metal to that area.

You are progressing nicely on the truck. Keep er up. I enjoy welding, but I am still learning also. I should have paid much more attention to my dad (a metal fabricator/welder) when I was growing up.

It's great! Well worth the money spent on it.

Re: My 62 SWB (Bomp made me do it!)

Started working on separating the new floor piece from the old cab supports. The spot welds are the biggest I have encountered so far. Around 5/16 in diameter.

Re: My 62 SWB (Bomp made me do it!)

Updates from the weekend. Finally was able to separate the donor floor piece from the floor supports.

I started trying to figure out what pieces I'm going to be using.

Re: My 62 SWB (Bomp made me do it!)

That is major surgery there.
Where all that metal meets up are you going to use a copper based primer?

Re: My 62 SWB (Bomp made me do it!)

It's a weld thru primer that I put down.

It's the stuff from NAPA.

Re: My 62 SWB (Bomp made me do it!)

Just a couple of updates.

Got the rear floor section on the passenger side welded in. Need to do some grinding over there to mark that one as complete.

Got the rear floor section on the drivers side cut out and prepped to go in. Ran out of motivation last night so it's sitting in the cab waiting to be welded in.

I didn't get any pics yet.

Re: My 62 SWB (Bomp made me do it!)

I haven't posted much lately due to the updates being insignificant. Lots of welding of small holes in the floor, sandblasting and clean up work.

The significant stuff is that I have been working on the lower A pillar on the passenger side. The bracket that holds the door plate in was shot so I made a new one.

Then last night i started cutting out around the windshield to remove the rot and rust from there.

Re: My 62 SWB (Bomp made me do it!)

Haven't got too much done on the truck

I purchased a new chassis on it so I had to get busy and clean up the garage in preparation for that.

We modified my wood frame the cab is on to lower it and add casters. Took the old frame out and stood the bed on it's side for the time being.

We also started mocking up the new roof piece and tacked it in.

Chassis pic for attention.

It was nerve racking doing it. It's all tacked in now. Waiting on the inner piece. It'll be here Monday.
