Re: Looking for a blazer opinions needed plz
The Ochre Blazer, of course!
Seriously, I gave up looking in the Midwest and ended up buying a solid California Blazer with just minor rust, then had it shipped to Minnesota. Like what has been suggested above, I would buy a vehicle with lots of its original parts and paint left on it to get a clear understanding of what may lie ahead in terms of restoration costs. Because of my lack of welding/fabrication skills, a truck with a clean body was priority number one.

Re: Looking for a blazer opinions needed plz
I did look country wide. Acually for a wile for one of these or a gto, 442. Prices are crazy no matter what.
Like said sight unseen is a factor, i drove 6 hrs to look at a olds 442. Owner said it was mint, pics looked good. The whole thing was full of fiberglass, roof flashing, bondo, even a flattened out flue vent for a floor board. The ass hole was asking full price and had the nerve to say i waisted his time, lol |

Re: Looking for a blazer opinions needed plz
Seems it is a love it or hate it type thing. I hated mine originally but it grows on you after a while. Fresh paint always looks better.

Re: Looking for a blazer opinions needed plz
I was all but certain to repaint mine Ochre until the very last minute....I couldn't do it and went with Chevy "LeMans Blue". I'm glad I did.

Re: Looking for a blazer opinions needed plz
That rust is typical and looks worse than it actually is. Try and get some pictures of the firewall and windshield header and where the doors bolt on.

Re: Looking for a blazer opinions needed plz
Appreciate the help hemi, The guy says the lower half is "rusty" i asked about the top and sides, he said everything is solid. And the top bolts to the top fine.
Like said, i dont know anything about these trucks, so all the help is great, thanks |

Re: Looking for a blazer opinions needed plz
I guess it all boils down whether or not you're comfortable to do these repairs. I've been doing this stuff for years, so I'd be all over it especially that patch panels are now available.

Re: Looking for a blazer opinions needed plz
Me and my friend went to look at it today. 7 hr round trip.
Was lied to, whole thing was rotted. The bed sides you could move 4 inches side to side. With the top on. All cross members and floor rotted completely. Doors you had to slam shut from the floors gone. Pass. door wouldnt open/close. Exterior body 1/4 of bondo. Cracks everywere... |

Re: Looking for a blazer opinions needed plz
Sorry to hear !
The problem with these trucks is that even if you go out west you're not guaranteed a rust free truck. Sounds like the same scenario I went through when buying my Blazer. It was a 7hr round trip also, and when I got there the truck had a lot more rust than the owner said. I looked it over real good and told him I wasn't interested. A week went by and decided to offer him a much lower amount than what he was asking, because I wanted one of these and there was no second choice for me especially given the fact that I'm in Canada. I definitely have no regrets now for buying it. Things will work out and you'll get one soon enough. |

Re: Looking for a blazer opinions needed plz
I bought what I was told was a clean one based on photos but without ever seeing it. The PO told me it needed rockers..... I was ok with rockers . I told him I just wanted a clean tub for an ls swap. So I got the truck and it didn't have a clean panel on it. Both bed sides, rocker boxes, floor in 5 spots, doors, tailgate , core support.
So now the trucks been at a body shop for 6 months, I don't even want to see the bill but it will be cool when I get it back. |

This truck was held together by the top. Needed a comp. tub, and windshield frame. And front fenders. I would have bought a frame and drive line.. |

Re: Looking for a blazer opinions needed plz
While I agree to a point on the yellow, if you could get the black one around 10k. Considerably less work for yourself, has a 502, f.i, 8 lug axles. Those are all big ticket items. Fix the paint, get it running and you have a nice truck you can enjoy. Not a truck you need to strip and replace the floors
Unless you want a original truck when it's done? |

Here's one out west here in Oakland, California. Original Owner. CST with Factory AC.
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/5447186041.html If the body is solid, I'd snag myself if I had 8K laying around.
