OK,
I've made some progress on this small project. First, I found some cheap rheostat dimmers for the LED's and they work great. I'll post a picture later. They were only 3 bucks a piece, so I bought a spare. I will take it apart from the cheap plastic case and use the componentsthe to dim all the LED's at once. I also updated the escutcheon plate that holds the LED's. My brother is a tool and die maker, and made the symbols. I think it really dresses it up.

here's the LED dimmer....ebay $ 2.80 each.
I'm going to put the rotary switch on the dash and the rest hidden behind. I'll make a matching aluminum knob later.
