Re: Back to bone stock, my '86 K/30

Gorgeous truck. 235/85R16's on it now? Split the difference next time and get a meaty pair of 255/85's. They don't rub on my V3500 with no lift but make it look a little taller.

I put 265/75/16's on it, same height as the factory 235/85/16, but just a bit wider. I wanted to stick with a factory height tire, and keep the OEM look

Re: Back to bone stock, my '86 K/30

Looks great! My truck is pretty stock, when I found a cracked sprig pack I thought, mite as well put a small lift and some 33s on it. I have regretted that ever since. I guess they knew what they were doing when they built these trucks.

Re: Back to bone stock, my '86 K/30

One good thing about stock vehicles. They go out of style 5 years after they are built, then 10 years later, they are never out of style. Customized ones, not so much. But then again, a 4 tube light bar and a pink neon license plate surround might look pretty good

Re: Back to bone stock, my '86 K/30

Just the way I would have to have it now. BONE STOCK. Looks like you have those NOS rear tailpipe hangers and new factory correct dual exhaust. When I get tired pouring money into the 3 projects I have in the fire now I plan to get my 86 1 ton exhaust going and want to get pictures of your original pipes. Your truck looks awesome Joe. Mark

Re: Back to bone stock, my '86 K/30

The nice thing about stock height/wheels and tires is you have much less chance of throwing rocks and debris up the side of your nice paint finish. That's reason enough for me to leave the truck stock....at least as far as the rolling gear is concerned IMO.

Mark, that's actually still the original factory installed exhaust!! It's still pretty good, but I do have NOS mufflers for it, and that NOS heat riser piece I got from you. I'm going to get the exhaust system replicated this summer though

Very nice truck! I as well liked it better before too. But, it still looks great with steelies and back to stock height.

Re: Back to bone stock, my '86 K/30

Too cool! Great job!

I thought about using basic, body-colored steel wheels and small caps on my 82 C10, but ended up with 8" rally wheels. At least they're period correct GM wheels, but I'm not sure they would have been available as an option on my Custom Deluxe base truck. Do any of you know?

I have a mint set of Dana 60 factory automatic hubs that would look right at home on that truck!

Those have to be pretty dang hard to find. I like the factory lock outs better though.

The weather was good here yesterday, so I took the truck for its first drive since putting it back to stock. The new springs ride nice. Very happy with it.
