Will that work with the newer electric gauges?

Re: GM Pulse Generator for electroc speedo

I haven't made the effort yet to get my two wire (yellow/purple) vss wires to the NVU speedo yet... was under the impression that i need the signal converter box SN74Z...

Are you trying to use the factory cable speedometer?

Re: GM Pulse Generator for electroc speedo

NV3500 VSS has the 128000 pulse per revolution output same as this signal generator. No option for cable drive on NV3500.

Re: GM Pulse Generator for electroc speedo

It's 40 pulse per driveshaft revolution and 128000 pulses per mile.

Hart_rod, yes, I hope so, but little wire tracing for the pcm speed output to speedo i should be good. Thanks guys, and sorry to steal the thread man!

Re: GM Pulse Generator for electroc speedo

DBW engines from 03 up use the 128K A/C VSS signal input. TAC module becomes cruise control from PCM via UART serial data. Two wire input to PCM on C1, cavity 21, VSS Low Circuit #821 (PPL/WHT). C1, Cavity 20 VSS High, Circuit #822 (LT GRN/BKL). Twist 9 time per foot to help reduce mutual induction. PCM VSS signal can be programmed to fit your speedo as VSS signal leaves PCM C2, cavity 10 (WHT) to speedo. Check your schematic and speedo requirements. TAC module uses B+ signal inputs for Cruise operation w/Drive-By-Wire (RPO Code-JK4) Just trying to be helpful.

Re: GM Pulse Generator for electroc speedo

The LS engine swap I have planned, is using an 2003 Gen3 5.3L truck engine. According to DD, SEN-01-128 produces an A/C type VSS signal required to allow my PCM to operated correctly. As an ASE Master Tech, if fixed stuff, not building from mixed parts. The PCM has two circuits VSS input with 822 (LT GRN/BLK) connector C2 (GRN) cavity 20 is VSS Low. Circuit 821 (PPL/WHT) connector C2 (GRN) cavity 21 is VSS High. With DD HF Sensor, would signal out go to PCM high? Would ground go to PCM low? Is this the correct method used to produce a 128K VSS input?
The PCM can be programmed to produce an output to match anyone's speedo, which is circuit 817 connector C2 (GRN) cavity 50 (DK GRN/WHT) is PCM buffered output to IPC, Radio and optional equipment like Rear Wheel Steering and Rear Object Sensor Control Module, via Splice Pack. On my 03" donor, the PCM uses C2 (GRN) circuit 821 cavity 49 (YEL/BLK) is used to provide VSS input to the ABS module, that I will not be using.
I am just trying to follow along to make sure I get this straight in my head first...before the wallet opens.

Yes. The black wire from the sensor goes to chassis ground as does the VSS low PCM connection when using the DD sensor.

Good plan.

Also, I don't know if you realize it, but you're posting your questions in the LS classified section. You'd probably get quicker response in the LS engine swap forum.

Re: GM Pulse Generator for electroc speedo

Thank you dayj1.... Yes, there are various forum locations that this exact question could have been posted. I am learning on line as I did every day when I opened my tool box to make a pay check. However, with this exact part is offered, I had research it and found the PDF lacking information...and so did the phone call I made to them. As with all things, if you are not learning something new, it's a boring day. If you're not researching (or asking), you bound to make mistakes. my wallet can't afford mistakes anymore. Thanks for pointing that out. I am new to forums, don't own a cell, and this build will be my last...for me, a simple daily driver 67 C10 longbed / w/wood!
