Re: My new truck for your assessment
Glad to run a crossed this. I know my truck was used to haul a camper and now I know what the brackets on the cowl were for.

Re: My new truck for your assessment
Nice rig 62 stepside. I really like the look of long bed stepside trucks.
Sodly, A very solid network of angle steel supports the bumper. Someone correct if I'm wrong but I think oil filters were still optional for the 235 in 1962. My 66 Custom Camper was in worse condition than this 62, but was highly optioned. I'll see if I still have the photos I took when I put it up for sale. Thanks for the paint info on the wheels. I may refurbish them and then store them with the hubcaps in a safe place. Modern tires and wheels might be better for todays road conditions.

Re: My new truck for your assessment
Well, I think the man I bought from sold it or junked it. Here are some pics of it. It was in a pretty sorry state.

Re: My new truck for your assessment
I dig the C20. Would still like to see your old custom camper, if you ever found pics.

Re: My new truck for your assessment
I took quite a few detailed pics when I put it up for sale but I think they maybe lost. If they turn up, I'll post them.

Re: My new truck for your assessment
Thanks everyone. I started an build thread for this truck and I have finally settled on a plan, so I will update it soon. Here is a pic with the giant bumper off and a rear shot of the truck without the giant bumper.
BTW, the bumper is free for the taking if anyone local to the Bay Area wants it. Otherwise, it's going to the recycler.

Re: My new truck for your assessment
Just noticed this thread, a thread that did not seem to get my attention earlier. This truck is a winner! The type us purists like to find, unaltered originals, yeah, even with original wheels and caps! In my book, condition always trumps options or year of manufacture. IMO, 95% of '62 3/4 ton stepsides out there today will not be as clean and original as this one. What makes you think it is a 235? Chevy painted the big 6's green. Its obviously not the 292, I am positive you have the very desirable 261 under that hood.

Re: My new truck for your assessment
Unfortunately, no 261 in this truck. By the numbers on the block, this is a 235. I don't believe the 261 was available for the C10-C30 trucks, at least here in the states.

Re: My new truck for your assessment
Is there a code on distributor pad? What is the block number? Is this a low mileage truck as it appears to be? I'm assuming its an original engine with original paint, like the rest of truck. '62 was the first year for the availability of the 261 in pickups (regular production option) in the U.S. It would be odd for someone to repaint a 235 green.
