Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
Well, so far this week has been good in regards to getting some parts sold in order to fund the LS. Sold a turbo 350 tranny and this power-glide pictured below. I have a few more parts/tools I am throwing up on the internet today. Hoping the 70 will gain some serious buyers...over the tire kickers.

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
Well, Saturday was a busy day. Showed the 70 to 4 different guys. Realized there is a spark plug broken so currently running less cylinders. Still runs strong though. Hope to sell soon!
Also was able to sell my orange fleetside bed, 2 front fenders from the first 62 I bought (a purchased some rust free ones a couple weeks back), side cowls and the cowl under the windshield. Guy and his son came down from OK. They are building a bagged 64 for his 13 year old son. Was awesome to see the little man excited about it all. Excited for some more change toward the LS engine!! Here are pics after I got the fenders off. One the PO had welded the bottom...guess he ran out of bolts.

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
I have a few more parts I hope to move along this week. That should put me in a good place to buy the engine I have been looking at.

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
This weekend was a good weekend. Sold the 1970 c10. I had one guy offer me a low number I wasn't comfortable with. Slept on it and decided to take it. Called him back...no response. Different guy came to look at it that night and offered me exactly what I had on the sign...SOLD!! Thankful to have the cash and see the truck off to a new home.
Also made some other progress. Got my 18 ft car hauler undercoated and my 62 orange cab stripped. Will be building a cab dolly soon. I have an old small trailer I think I am going to build it on so it is easy to move. Pics to come!

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
Thought I would give y'all the next steps for the plan. Writing it out on here helps me keep motivated to actually do it. I need to strip my 62 cab I will be removing from the frame. Hope it goes as smooth as the orange one this last weekend. From there, I will remove the bed and start the frame repair. Lots of hack welding by the PO. pics soon!
Also, my dad decided he wanted to go back with a 400 sbc with a turbo 400 behind it. Guess I will have to find me a nice 58/59 SWB for the LS Swap. I keep having to remember this is ultimately a truck for him.... Hope I can move some more parts this week as well! SWB frame, seats, fenders, cores, grills etc. Keep wrenching!

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
Well, I got a call from a guy wanting the frame under my Orange cab. Guy is coming to pick it up this weekend. Any recommendations on building a cab dolly???
I will be using wood. I also have a small lawn more hauler trailer I am hoping to build it on for the ease of moving from the pasture to the garage to work on it.

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
Thanks! I like the simplicity of it. I have some wood laying around that would be easy to duplicate that. And it sits at a good level to mount atop of that small trailer I have.
Much appreciated.

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
Was over at my dad's (Big E's 62) last night and found some more photos of his truck. He did all the paint and body work himself. Last photo is right before he sold it...

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
Had an eventful weekend. After having to yell at the guys at Pepboys for taking 5 hours to put on new tires on..., I was able to get some work done on trucks. I pulled the orange cab off the 65 frame in order for the buyer to pick up the frame. They are putting it under a bagged 62. what a chore with only 2 people and no cherry picker.

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
And last but certainly NOT LEAST.....We picked up what will be the new foundation for this build. A 1962 c10 with a 400 sbc from 1974-75. Bought from a widow. Her first date was in this truck. Cool stories were shared today.
Truck couldn't be any better. Minimal rust and super straight. I will post some more pics soon!

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
So based on my internet searches, the engine is from a 1975 f body. The last three letters are CTX. Unfortunately, only 175 hp on these out of the engine. I do not believe it has double hump heads. So, thinking if we switch over to those along with the aluminum in take and holly carb, might be able to pull some more juice out of her.
y'all have any input on the code?
