Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
So after about eleventy thirtyteen hundred hours of searching, I found what I think would be a perfect, and unique solution to running the played out cone filter off the turbo for this build.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
It's an era correct paint pressure pot. Think 62ish based on the info I found on the regulator. I'm turning into a multifunctioning piece. It'll be the air filter housing as well as a thought of after the fact "pressure regulator" for the belt driven York compressor I'm going to use for the air ride system. I'll still rely on a pressure switch for tank pressure but just thought it would be an interesting addition.

Great fab skills! Digging the project, looking forward to where it goes.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
I used an exhaust collector flange and adapter to connect it to the turbo cold side. Then I cut up and bent some exhaust tubing to hard-line it to the radiator support that way it appears to be floating the weight instead of having a bunch of brackets or trusses supporting it's weight.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
Installed and ti heat wrapped. Everything cold side and hot are getting heat wrapped by the way. Not because of some performance based theory but just because I think it'll look better when finished. I don't want anything looking new on this build. Every bit of fab work will be left raw so that it cancer's out quickly. There will also be a lot of copper and brass used anywhere possible so that it can be aged to give this rig the look like all this work was originally done in the early 60's. Why? Because Roadkill I guess.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
After a lot of homework and measuring and remeasuring, I found an intercooler I could sneak in behind the grill with very minimal cutting.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
Yes, the radiator is a bit too high. I'm trying to figure out the best solution to getting it the extra inch and a half or so lower. I'm either going to have to modify the lower tank to clear the gearbox, tilt the front of the gearbox down, switch to an Astro van gearbox and rework the linkage a bit or switch to a rack and pinion setup...or go with a slightly shorter radiator...at least that's all I've been able to come up with as far as ideas. Any others would be greatly appreciated!

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
Again, after countless hours of research on trying to find the right part as far as a clean velocity stack for the this setup, I finally came up with something pretty slick I think. I originally wanted to make one out of type L 3" copper pipe but couldn't find a cost effective way to flare it or get my hands on a cost effective one time use flaring tool. I had about given up and almost bought a chrome plastic pep boys velocity stack that I was going to cut down to fit into the right side high beam headlamp beauty ring. When I started tearing the headlamp assembly down I found the answer! I noticed once the headlamp was pulled the bezel it screws to has the same basic shape. I pulled the bezel and cut the center out until it would mate up to a piece of 3" exhaust tubing I had laying around in my scrap bin.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
Getting the cold side mocked up. For now I'm going to use those banding clamps used for packing boxes on all the piping connectors except for at either ends, that way when I wrap it all, it'll look cleaner until I either get the cash for making all the cold side out of copper of one piece exhaust tubing with all the same bends and then wrapped.

If someone hates on your project then they clearly don't see the craftsmanship and engineering you have put in. EXCELANTA!

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
This next pic pretty much catches y'all up to where I'm at on the build. When my buddy Patrick Franklin and I originally designed the back half, we punched out a bunch of holes in the frame to put spikes or studs into it. We finally decided that solid copper 5/16" rivets would look the best, I started doing more countless hours of homework trying to track them down. Unfortunately, nobody in North America sells them. So all 80 or so rivets got slow boated in from Germany. Still looking at different ideas on crushing them down or setting them in the frame cleanly outside of buying a handheld one time use tool that's about 300 bucks.

Haha yeah! Thank you sir. One of my favorite quotes of all time was from Kenny Powers in the first season of East Bound and Down where he said "Any one that hates me are haters, and haters can suck it."

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT
Oh yeah, the exhaust doing the peekaboo out the passenger front fender was because when I was originally looking and planning it all out, there was a huge gaping hole where the bottom of that fender was completely rotten out so I figured why not route the exhaust out there and do a sort of an up-skirt setup. Or smoking out any Prius that happens to roll up next to me at light. No offense to anyone on here that drives a Prius everyday to work. :/
