Rob, He says he is going to paint it black (everything this guy has is black) and put the longhorn bed he bought from me on it. The truck is in the caves, do you know him??

Re: 1972 1ton dually 4x4 (napco??)
Bringing this oldie back to the top..just saw on the Stovebolt forum that this Rare old Beauty has been restored. And a pretty cool story on how this project came about.

That's sweet, glad to see it didn't have the fate of "I'mgonnaitis" and has a good story to go along with it.

Re: 1972 1ton dually 4x4 (napco??)
Thanks for the link. This thread was before my time. You know I had a single wheel '71 C/30 Napco, right? I never saw another. It had a 9' Reading utility bed and Western plow. I bought it in '82 and used it for 10 years. I managed to round up parts to rebuild the axle. To be honest, when I bought the truck I had no idea of it's uniqueness or rarity.
That truck was great and ended up being one of my most disappointing stories ever. In '92 I decided to retire it from my business (cab was getting real bad),restore, put a single wheel contractor dump on it,and keep up at my folk's farm on the mountain to use when I was up there. There's a guy near me who's does used truck bodies. I had taken it there to have the bed removed that I had sold and have him locate & mount a dump rig. The truck had a rusty cab,but the interior and the whole drivetrain were redone. I even put a new Quadrajet on just to run it over there. I talked to him from time to time to see if he had located a dump. When I got my new '92 K3500 I took a Reading work cap to him to sandblast and paint the color of my new truck. I was switching my trucks from Medium Olive Poly to Woodland Green, like my new one. I came back to pick up the cap and he comes walking up to my truck, which was kind of odd. He asks when I got my truck and I thought he meant my brand new '92. "I saw your '71 was gone and just figured you came and got it". I couldn't believe it!! I asked how the heck could my truck leave there without him knowing. His house is right there in front of the shop. He said,"The junk man was here, maybe he took it." "He just takes running driving trucks without saying anything to you???" That guy is a snake and what I think happened is he had a shady guy (as in ex-con biker type) who worked there some on the side. He had some of these trucks and I think he let him have it for some pay. I was stuck with the plow and title at my house and the truck w/plow mount gone! I loaded up my work cap on the trailer and left w/o paying him. He never said a word about that!
