Cool picture....I went back and saw the color on the SPID label....my mistake...I think maybe it's the same color used on the '69 Camaro and called Burnished Brown in that application.
I like the name you chose for the truck...I can't help but think about the brand of dog food sold at Walmart and picked up by Eddie on Christmas Vacation lol

That's funny about the "Old Roy" thing. I forgot about that! LOL

Thanks. Yes, the carb rebuild helped a lot, but it wasn't until replacing the spark plugs that it really came to life. It runs very good now.

Thanks for all of the positive comments. Small update... Got a set of stainless steel hubcaps. Still have to repaint the bowtie to blue, but they make a nice addition to the truck as is. Here's a pic of it while I was out picking up a new water-softener for the house this weekend.

Plans for the truck are just to keep getting it back to where it was when it was in good working condition, with minor updates. I did pick up a set of the "unobtanium" 6-lug 8" wide rims, so a sand-blast and repaint is the next step.

Here is a pic from today, doing a little work around the place today moving a trailer. It was a beautiful fall day!

Finally had some time to work on Old Roy, so I thought an update would be in order.

Last weekend I pulled the grill and gave it the "oven cleaner treatment". It's going to get some of the dents hammered out, polished, black accents repainted, then reinstalled. It will never be perfect, but should look better than it was. More on that later. Here is the oven cleaner doing it's job...



Yesterday I spent a few hours pulling the front clip. The engine and transmission (4-speed stick) will need to be degreased, then the engine will be getting an entire new gasket set (at the very least). After that the engine bay is going to be detailed, then the heater box/core reinstalled.

I was home alone, so I had to get some "machinery" involved to get the clip removed:











Here's how it's sitting as of right now.



Now that the clip is removed, I plan on doing a compression test and leak down test on the engine, then pulling it and beginning the clean up/regasket process. Oh, and I also need to either rebuild the front end (control arm bushings), or swap in a newer (disk brake) cross-member.

For a truck that's just going to be run as a weekend shop-truck, I'm more than happy with those numbers!

No doubt...I'm sure you're pretty pleased...this is really turning into a nice build up/freshening up! Makes you wonder how a truck like this gets pushed off into the background!

A thought on the front suspension, while I wait for the clock to move to 2017....if you swap that front suspension to disk, which is good thinking, you will end up with 5 lug wheels....not sure if that's a issue or not. There are some places that have disk brake conversions that let you keep the 6 lug wheels...I think Jim Carters is one if I remember correctly. It's totally doable because a friend did the same swap on a '70. He picked up a complete front suspension from a mid 80's truck and got a 12 bolt rear from a '71-'72 half ton Chevy so the rear wheels matched...worked great and looked just like it belonged there.

A bit of an update.... It was -5 deg out when I woke up this morning, so I figured it would be a great day to play in the garage. LOL Big things happened today!

I'll let the pics speak. Got the green work horse out again for little assistance.





Took the trans out as well. Ugh... Could own a grease factory with this stuff!

Actually yes... I finally had some time to dig into it today. Being a NOOB at the insides of a 350 SBC, I asked some basic questions awhile back about pulling bearing caps in the Engine Forum section. Here's where that led:

More updates...

Rockauto shipped me some front end parts. BTW... Just so you know, you can rebuild your ENTIRE (drum brake) front end for $238 with shipping.



So I got the A-arms removed..



One of them was a bit rusty. (used replacement is on the way)



So I got the cross shafts removed, and sand blasted and acid washed the remaining 3 arms since it was freakishly warm here this past weekend.



Primer...



Paint...



and some POR-15 on the frame...



Then THIS happened!
