how much did you extend the front of your frame to fit 59 clip?

Re: 1956 GMC to 1959 GMC Conversion
Got the box back yesterday and spent the night installing the wood and hardware.
Still some touch ups to do on the box as well as paint the white on the bed spears but it will be getting one more coat of mint when I paint the whole truck. Thanks to Greg for the help on the box and I'll be finishing the rest of the paint etc. here. A pic of the bench seat that Steve did the upholstery on. Still have to prep and paint the frame white. Plans for today are to install the tailgate and hope to get some primer on the cab. Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 1956 GMC to 1959 GMC Conversion
Thanks guys. Far from perfect but for a daily driver shop truck it will be just fine.
Installed the tailgate and masked off and painted the bed spears last night. Today I installed the stainless bed side trim. Box is pretty much done now except for the wheel tubs and still have to paint the GMC script in the tailgate white. Also got the back of the cab in primer. Re: 1956 GMC to 1959 GMC Conversion
Thanks guys.
More progress today. Installed the new stock fuel tank and plumbed the lines. Next was to put the box on, trying to get 4 guys together to lift always seems to be difficult around here and I don't like waiting, lol. So I made a jig that slid under the bed rails and I picked it up with a chain fall off of my A frame crane. It worked slick, just back the truck under it and let it down. Took 20 mins. My Dad is here lending a hand so between the 2 of us it was a breeze Got the rear bumper on Not much left, after dinner I'll put in the headlights, tail lights and front bumper. A little wiring and she is good to go |

Re: 1956 GMC to 1959 GMC Conversion
Finished up the front after dinner, that's it for tonight. Marker/signal lights tomorrow and then the bit of wiring.
A poor picture but it's getting dark out: |

Thanks guys for the comments! It's still needs a bit to finish but I've been driving it everyday and loving it. Had to push to get it back on the road as I've suddenly got another truck. A 58 Apache that I've started already
