Re: gas monkey ad

Asking 175k..offered 135k..sold 150k....wonder how long it will take before we see another "sold" truck sitting in the background..like that LS powered dodge they "sold" for big money a couple years ago..they actually did a nice job on this truck though..

Keep in mind the quality of the cartoon artisrty has left the building, so they use reality people with monopoly money. It's still more entertaining than current politics......

Re: gas monkey ad

I think maybe I said this the last time it came up, but gas monkey the BRAND has revenues 20-30x the BUILDS.

there is an old story about a guy with a horse, its an old horse and not very useful any more, so the guy buys a new horse and sells the old horse for 20 gold pieces to a kid who doesnt know to look at the teeth or what a swayback is. a few days later the boy returns and says the horse died the first time he tried to plow a field. the man says thats a shame, but a deals a deal. a few weeks pass and the guy is feeling guilty so he stops by to see the kid and offer to plow his field. the kid has a brand new horse, and the guy asks how he got it. the kid explains he decided to raffle off the horse and sold tickets for 1/2 gold piece each. the guy cant believe it, he asks him, "didnt anyone care the horse was dead?!" the kid says "just the winner. I gave him his 1/2 gold piece back".

whatever sells t shirts and burgers and beard app advertising and gets people walking through the gift shops, THAT is where revenue is. I worked for a company that sold average stuff with a brand name and people were insanely loyal. Thats the power of marketing.

That was the whole entire interior. 9 gs is very high, but that was a very custom interior. Still, really high. lol

I thought I heard him tell Richard it was for the whole interior, between 6 and 9K ......... which is a good profit for the shop!

Not uncommon some of the high end roadsters will pay 10 to 14K for a roadster, check with Gabe Lopez.

He did say there was 85K profit for his shop, good money if you can get it!!

Re: gas monkey ad

85k profit is nothing to sneeze at..if you can believe it..I saw later on in the show they had done more interior than just the seat...at first I thought he said 9k just for the seat..still I can't see that much for an interior no matter what...I know upholstery people like others are skilled at what they do and deserve to be paid...but really..I just don't see it..i dont have 9k in my ls powered 81 and i redid the whole truck, engine, trans swap ,interior and paint, just about new everything.....
10-14k for a roadster...double wow..

Re: gas monkey ad

I used to be a fan of the Gas Monkey show but as they have grown and gone so over the top on the TV side and stopped creating parts vs. buying parts (frame, drive train, etc) I stopped watching. Thankfully web shows like "Roadkill" have stepped in and replaced the automotive content I watch.

You underestimated by $70,000. You have no future in the automotive appraisal business ;-)

Re: gas monkey ad

I'm curious as to why a hood that was original to the truck no longer fit after all the cowl work ??????? and the hinge issues were amusing to watch.

Here is a link to hinge adjustments so you guys don't try a gas monkey hinge repair. If you find something missing or inaccurate let me know.
