Re: My 65 long stepper, "Ol' Blue"

This thread has been totally messed up by Photosucket, but wanted to update. Have got most of the driveability issues fixed, everything works, it's way more than a toy, it's a useable vehicle. Was thinking about driving the old truck back to my hometown, about 900 miles away, through the desert.
I love the sound and feel of the 6 cylinder engine and the granny 4 speed transmission, brings back memories. This old bastard steers better than my late model Dodge, plus the AM radio is always good for the latest news.
A pic of Ol' Blue, just as dependable as it was in '65.

I have that same cup holder. Someone gave it to me years ago may have been from a boat. You can go around a corner real fast and slam on the brakes and not spill your favorite can of whatever. JR

Re: My 65 long stepper, "Ol' Blue"

The interior color is more grey than gold, and the steering column is black. My idea of a modification.
Seriously, I grew up with these trucks, and there are certain aspects that I won't change. Cuz feel good.
Just as I'm sure the whole slammed, LS motor, overdrive trans thing makes others feel good,
Whatever floats your boat, guys.

Re: My 65 long stepper, "Ol' Blue"

Did you use a stock side carrier when you mounted your tire? Any pics? I just traded some stuff for a long stepper bed for my '64, but the carrier is missing.

Ya, it was a stock part. Sorry, haven't looked at this thread for a while. There are multiple holes in the bed side for the spare mount. Don't think anybody reproduces it, though.
Good luck with your truck.

That interior is beautiful. I really like the gun hanging there too

What paint did you use for the interior?

Looks great! Working on my long stepper now. Love the seats...did you buy a kit for the seats and do it yourself?
