wow, did`nt expect so many replies. you all seem like great people and i hope to get to know most of you and help any way i can. this isn`t my first custom project, just my first 67-72 project. i`ve had a few chevelles and elcaminos and most recently had a `57 big window p/u that i installed a mustang II front end and f*rd 9" rear. when all was said and done, i was about a foot taller than the top of the cab. i got the truck cheap enough and it`s in decent shape concidering the age, that i don`t mind cutting it down and i`m not worried about the value of it changing. a decent swb fleet truck is goinf for aroud $4k here and i just don`t have the money. i only paid $600.00 and everything works and has a new gm crate motor. i will be searching for the thread on the cut down though. thanks again eveyone and if i can be of any help, let me know.

another new guy

I just picked up a '70 C10 Stepside/350/Power Glyde/6' box..... basically bone stock (motor was changed out about 12K miles ago, changed radiator when I got it home last friday). The truck has lived on the coast all it's life so there's some rust that needs to be dealt with, but it's a very clean platform to start with and since it's so close to original there's not much missing, just stuff that needs to be replaced. It started it's life in service with the Oceanside Fire Department and was later purchased by an employee of the City Of Oceanside and moved south about 5 minutes to Carlsbad. It's now moved futher south and inland by about 45 minutes (no salt air) and is going to do minor service for me as a 2nd vehicle (my main transportation is a motorcycle) and fun project........ just wanted to say "hi"
