May I suggest a B&M cooler with electric fan ? I have a massive oil cooler in front of the ac condenser and still struggling to keep tempature below 230 on long grades. I just ordered a new cooler with fan that comes on at 185 off 170

My longhorn has a lame 350 to an original th400 with 3:54 Dana 60. And that's all old stuff. She still is more comfortable to tow with then my old mans. However my brakes are far inferior lol

I'd have to agree. The 12 valve is one of the best engines ever designed. I build the natural gas version at work,(I borrowed the pic from google) they are so simple to build but they are damn near bomb proof. We have several that have been running natural gas compressors in the field for 10+ years 24 hrs a day with nothing more than an occasional rebuilt head. The diesel version is even better. They will pull a load and laugh doing it. They are pretty easy to build power with compared to all the later computer controlled engines.

Yes, I think a diesel would be a nice engine. I was always was around diesels and the first car I ever drove on the street was a 1982 Toyota Crown 4 cyl diesel 4 speed on the column that never made it to the US. Anyways, I wish I went with a cummins or a MB OM617 motor. The reason I didn't want to go with the Cummins was the added weight and messing with the fuel tank (last also applied to the OM617). After all that I did both of these things could had been easily added in. Bottomline, consider a diesel engine in your build.

Yeah swapping a diesel would be sick but a lot of money lol and I just finish this ls swap like 3 months ago but i think if this motor dies then the 5.9 will be next to replace it but I heard there kind of a pain to fit? do you have to cut into the firewall? or does it fit in the engine bay just snug.
