Re: 1967-72 C-10 rising in value

Interesting to note, that new $2700 truck in 1969 would cost you close to $18,000 in 2016 dollars.....

Yep. I'm not going to shorten my long bed because then I'd have less room behind the work box.

I bought my truck three years ago from a local farmer. I just wanted a decent 67-72 4x4 to take hunting and carry stuff around in. I never thought for a second about the long bed vs. short bed affecting the value, whether it had certain options, etc. I test drove it, the 4x4 worked, I bought it, I use it.

Re: 1967-72 C-10 rising in value

I have a somewhat mixed opinion on this. I like the fact that value is rising, because it now makes make truck more worth restoring than it would have been a few years ago, however I dislike that this will now make one of the few things that makes me happy less affordable. I planned to buy a second 67-72 for awhile now, but since I've seen so many price increases, the chances of that happening for me now are very low.

Re: 1967-72 C-10 rising in value

I wish the people I was trying to sell my C10 too read this article...

I wish I had the time and money to restore mine but since I bought mine I got married and had two boys. I love these trucks and hope that they continue to be restored and brought back to their glory.

Prices for these trucks have already reached the ridiculous around here. You can't buy a rusted out p.o.s. with no usable parts for under $1500. I'm just happy that I've got the ones I do.

Re: 1967-72 C-10 rising in value

I'm with Tim, "special k", it's always been in my life too. I was practically born in one , Pop had a new 68 swb step. Mom drove a 69 burb bus for a living and, have a pic somewhere circa 1971. My two brothers owned them. My first vehicle was a 1972 C-5 Blazer. Shoot, by age 21 I owned four of them already. Was definitely a family affair, a lifestyle, you made friends with all the locals who owned them, swapped parts, helped each other fixing them. Price can go to the moon and back, doesn't matter to me cause I don't plan on selling them, they are another family member to me

Re: 1967-72 C-10 rising in value

I bought mine because I needed a vehicle. And always been a gm fan. I have family that think i'm crazy for hanging on to it. But its part of the family and it would take a ridicules amount of money to get it from me at this point.

Your truck is only worth whatever some else will pay for it ..... You might think it's worth this and that but . No .... Hey maybe someone will pay up but that's never the case .

I somewhat agree with you, but when a large percentage of the sellers are asking stupid prices, that becomes the price range. Thise who want one have very limited options.

It's like everything else, your stuff is always worth less to sell than it is to buy.

Re: 1967-72 C-10 rising in value

I totally hear u YB ... And that's fueled by articles like that one . That's the other end of the spectrum and that part sux ... I just went through that in the last year . I call those people dreamers . There's a lot of dreamers where I live dreaming of getting too dollar for garbage ..... Square bodies are getting expensive too . I ended up looking and buying out of state .

Re: 1967-72 C-10 rising in value

I noticed the c10 price around south Mississippi has rose for the past few years. I got the one (67 swbss ) I have always wanted almost restored now. I tell friends our trucks have taken the same route that the 1st gen camaros took years ago.

Re: 1967-72 C-10 rising in value

There are too many "dealers" out there listing tons of these trucks at really over inflated prices. I know some of these are selling high because I've tried to purchase a few from guys that needed to dump them off ( Example: guy paid 49k and it was nice, his low dollar was 35k, which was still too much. Verified by contacting the dealer that sold it to him -this was the copper polished floor pan C10 swb fleet ).

A buddy and I went and took a look at a truck near home that I found on eB@y. I'd already negotiated the price with the guy pending inspection so I was ready to drive it home. Unfortunately, no, this was not the right one for me: 5.? liter 1999-2000 Vortec, 4l?0e, frame cut to fit exhaust manifolds ( no boxing ), oil pan was the lowest part of the truck by 3+ inches, motor was tired, tranny was ~OK, manual 4/disc, A/C cab, black paint, no rust..

~I didn't drive it so the tranny may have also been pretty tired. It had some oil leaking underneath and the engine looked like it came directly out of a beat up old truck/van. Marketed then and still is today as a 6 liter LS with 4L80e with about 40k miles. We could not determine whether it was a 6 liter. My research found only few 6 Liter 4l80e combos there during the early LS cycles, so there were just too many red flags.

This truck is for sale today at one of the above mentioned 'dealers' for 34,999. That is a full 13,999 more than the purchase price I had negotiated, took a look and ran away!

Does this skew the market?
