Re: Whats your truck plans for 2017

Well I'm going a to look for a different rear end that has a highway friendly 3.07 ratio so I can actually do 65mph. I hate the weak 700r4 so I'm not going od trans. Also am going to get some matching 31 inch tires and a bed tool box. I want to make my truck a bit more utilitarian and possibly even drive into the winter months as I tend to only need a winter driver sparingly and when streets are dry and to hit the ice for fishing.

Re: Whats your truck plans for 2017

Due to some family issues it looks more and more like I'm going to loose my storage. So in 2017 ill need to get down to one truck and move down the road the majority of my extra goodies. Should be an interesting year.

Re: Whats your truck plans for 2017

Yes the winters get long with all the white stuff on the ground.

For my 68 I am going to continue to drive and enjoy it. I put more miles on it last summer than any summer before. I did a day trip down to Atlin BC last summer and put 400 kms on in one day. I was amazed that I got 17 mpg with the 396. I guess the tall tires and 3.54 rear gears really help. SO I want to get it out on the highway more.

My 59 needs some love and attention this summer. With the move to Whitehorse it has been left in storage. I had it out in May 2015 for my nephews wedding but it has sat since. So in 2017 I will order a new AC Delco reproduction tar top battery and get it out and driving.

I've got a rolling C-30 Longhorn Frame and Bed. I have finally got all the parts I need and plan on prepping it and powder coating for my 1969 K20 to K30 Longhorn conversion.

Re: Whats your truck plans for 2017

Ultimate goal: finish chassis, drop in motor and trans, put body back on as it and drive it for a bit.

A little more realistic goal: Get chassis done

Even more realistic goal: forward progression

Re: Whats your truck plans for 2017

1. mount new wheels and tires
2. 4in lift
3. fix small rust holes on cab floor and in the bed
4. 3/4 ton axles w/ new wheels and tires
5. new front winch bumper
6. save up for 8.1 and 4l80e
7. linex my bed

Not sure if I'll get to everything on the list but I'm hoping I can.

Sorry to hear, sounds like you have some serious problems in your life. One good thing about these trucks though is that when you are working on them you can forget the rest of the world for a while.

I plan to pull the bed off mine and install a whole new rear differential.
Then I plan to re-install the bed nice and straight.
Next I plan to replace the windshield.
If I get that done I will then start on my doors.

Get it put back together and on the road so I can drive it. Bought it in pieces so its like putting together a model with no instructions. Well at least to me it is. But I am having fun doing it.
