Re: Temperature sensor modification

This is a great idea and you are a good man for doing this for folks! It's guys like you that make this place great. I wish there was an option for the LS guys besides drilling and tapping the heads. I'm surprised that no one has found a metric sender that will work. That would definitely be the easiest route.

Re: Temperature sensor modification

I will take one, if you have anymore? My pm box is currently full so I need to empty it or update my subscription, I’ll try and get that taken care of today.

I know Teflon tape is not recommended, what do you suggest for coating the threads of the sensor?

You can use teflon tape but sometimes it won't allow it to ground very well..the sensor needs to ground to the head for it to read properly
I use a little dab of pipe sealing compound...

Re: Temperature sensor modification

I'm not pushing these....they aren't a big money-maker for me
I mainly do them just as a way to help solve an issue.
I have 9 in stock....ready to ship if anyone needs one.

I use Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket (#3). It stays flexible but provides a good seal. I also use it on paper and cork gaskets.

Re: Temperature sensor modification

for LS owners. I bought a Classic Instruments Sender SN12MM that screwed right into my existing LS head and it works fine. I don't know if it is exact but it reads about 1/2 on gauge runs up to 3/4 and fans come on (at 207degrees) and it drops to 1/2 on gauge and the fans go off. I am real happy with it.

Re: Temperature sensor modification

What is tour trucks year? I am unclear how the gauges have changed - I know the sensors have.

Thanks
