It starts fine and runs decent in the throttle, it's mostly just idling thats erractic

Yes they are a nice upgrade. I want to get one for my boat. I put new points in it last year. Was in a hurry. But going to order one this year. I don't want to get stranded out on the water.

Then it ain't yer points. Check for vacuum leaks with a spray can of carb cleaner. When the idle goes wild where the spray hits, you will have found the vacuum leak.

Probably to -trigger- the relay, while using a 12V battery source to -power- the relay. That'd make sense.
