Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?
It's getting closer!!!
I must be watching quality TV (what little I watch...LOL) I see a bunch of Chevy pickup commercials, seemingly all the time. I still enjoy the one where they dump an EMPTY hand tool box into the bed of a new ford. Did I say EMPTY TOOL BOX? Those areospace quality beer cans that those beds are made of must be mighty thin..??? I've read in the automotive that Chevrolet has slashed prices much more than usual. Makes me wonder if they have overbuilt... AND isn't 2018 a new styling year? If so the leftover 2017's may not sell worth a hoot, once the 2018's come out. In the interest of further ford bashing...My buddies neighbor just bought a new 2017 4 door 1/2 ton ford pickup. Lotsa options, looks super slick....except he will be driving it along and the transmission does something stupid. (not exactly sure what...) THE DEALER CANNOT FIGURE IT OUT, THEY ARE CLUELES!!! They sent him home with it, told him to keep driving it, see what happens next...LOL Mind you this is a $40,000.00 plus pickup....LMAO these ford lovers crack me up.... |

This is all that I could find.
Not a lot of big changes that I can see. http://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/chevr...-new-features/

Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?
He could just put front bumper against a wall. But the truck may fold up like a beer can against Bubba's forehead

Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?
My guess is if they do anything they'll do it mid-year to boost sales and allow the regular models to kick off the year better, like the special editions they came out with this year.
About current ads. Every day I check my local TV channel weather and have to watch the one with the red truck with "roll formed steel bed" at a test track with goobers being given a lesson by professor Chevytruck. In one shot the one guy is standing back eyeing up that man-step bumper real hard and a couple other shots later there he is taking the giant leap to try it out. It appears he was putting an awful lot of thought into that. Cracks me up now. You have to realize I've had a chance to dissect that ad after seeing every day for weeks now.

I've always laughed at those bumper steps. A lot of ugly, just so you can step up 32 inches instead of 36 inches.

Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?
Yes, the denial factor runs deep in that bunch . I wish I had my camera with me today. I went to Safeway and I like to park in this spot next to an island. In the space next to it was a new white F150 car with no trunk lid backed in. I mean, double cab short bed. I backed my white '72 GMC in and walking by I noticed on the front of the hood it had Limited in big letters across it. Here my ole beast is with ladder racks, saddle tool box, a little rough around to edges to those from a perfect world, yet very handsome IMO. That F150 looked feminine next to it if you ask me. Anyway, I come out and it's gone. But wait, no it wasn't. It was across the row and down past the islands and the two guys were putting their bags in the RH rear door. So, why was that? It wasn't because we were too close (my 1st thought) because I was on it's left. Why not load it up where it was and head out? Obviously they had come out just a few before me. Did the owner move it while his buddy held the bags and walked them over to the new location? I don't know, but I'd like to think they wanted to get it away from that mean old manly GMC before the owner came out who may be just as grizzly. Which I'm not. I don't know, just seemed very fickle and weird, as in nothing John Wayne would ever do, or any of the good ole boys who used to be the ones you saw in a truck. It sure was a fancy thing, though. Must have just gotten it because they were looking it all over and under, like the owner was showing it off to his buddy. Just a little thing that made me wonder and chuckle before cranking up and loping it out past them as their knees shook

Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?
I can't afford a new truck. The big three prices me out 10 or 12 years ago. My salary just did t go up as fast as their prices. Simple economics. Wages stagnated and the automakers either can't or won't take into consideration that their CEO makes in one year more than my entire town does in five. I bet there's guys in my town that work harder longer hours too (actually I know it). Their sales are shrinking because the market is shrinking. Guys are dreaming about a Chevy truck but buying a KIA. Simple economics.

Re: 100 yrs Anniversary truck ?
The dollar is shrinking in more ways than one. That's for sure. I can't even tell who's face it is on the bills anymore. You might the working man driving a new truck bought by his bigger company, but look at who you see driving new pickups these days and check their hands for calluses. I'm working for a couple who bought the small farm I have been doing building maintenance on for the prior owners. He's a junior electrical engineer and she is self-employed, works mostly from home doing who knows what. She drives a Prius and he drives a Mini to work. The new full-tilt F350 double cab short bed diesel they bought for a farm truck(?) I haven't seen move in two weeks. The guy who mows and bush hogs the place (also carried over) let the guy try out running "his" tractor (came with the place) and he was off of it in short time. Seems to prefer having someone else do such things. They have all these plans (dreams) for the place, it needs a heap of work all over due to the prior owner being a 93 year old woman, and every time I go there they are in the house. I guess they have the money to pay for someone else to do everything (I'm hoping) because ain't nothin' gettin' done sittin' in the house! I guess one day a working man will be buying a nice clean low mile used F350 weekend chore truck one day. One thing I don't know about the new trucks sitting so much higher (that F150 the other day sat as high or higher than my '72 with 4" lift) is do they still fit into the parking decks/garages at work, at the mall, and downtown?
