Re: Finished my 64 two days ago and this happened!!!!
"new" fender had to be patched. I will play with the patina on the fender but we sprayed several different paint colors on it. Still have to replace the grille surround, grille, bumper, headlights, upper and lower control arms (ball joints, bushings). Had the "massage" the hood and driver's door. Waiting on spindle and rotor.

Re: Finished my 64 two days ago and this happened!!!!
No big deal needed a new bearing Core Support bent, I will address it. When fixing the alignment of the door the inside plate fell. Had to open up the bottom of the door jam to fix the plate This is what it looks like today. Suspension parts have been replaced. Just need to replace body panels and do a faux patina on the grille surround and fender.

I'm glad to see and hear that the damage was not too difficult to fix. This would have been so much worse for both you and the truck if he had hit the cab.

Re: Finished my 64 two days ago and this happened!!!!
My situation is different. Ill be brief.
I am a fireman and was on industrial injury due to recent shoulder surgery (6/14/17). I was leaving Physical Therapy when this accident happened so technically I was "on duty". The kid who hit me was at fault and has Progressive. Progressive took full responsibility for the claim. I have Hagerty on this truck and my 69 Suburban. My regular cars are insured with State Farm. I told Progressive I will deal with Hagerty and let Hagerty deal with Progressive. Hagerty sent an "appraiser" to look over my truck. I had my initial check for vehicle damages 14 days after the accident. Bad part of all this is I re tore my rotator cuff and now have to have a second surgery 9/20/17 to re pair the last surgery from 6/14/17. I am out of work for a while and the kid who hit me only has 15k in coverage (state minimum) so Hagerty has to kick in my underinsured coverage. I have good friends and guys I work with who will be helping me out so I am not too depressed. Just a lot of "extra" stress beyond all the regular life stresses.

Re: Finished my 64 two days ago and this happened!!!!
First off, thank you for doing what you do!
Secondly, I worry about this very thing on my truck, I have it on an agreed value but I am now thinking to put more on it or move to a Classic insurance company like hagerty. After my truck is done with what I'm doing, replacement cost would be in the 30k range I would think so... I am also glad your rebuilding your truck! Good luck with it and your surgery!!

Re: Finished my 64 two days ago and this happened!!!!
During your online application process they ask how many miles you will be driving it. They do not necessarily insure a "daily driver". There is another big name classic car insurer who does daily drivers. I usually price shop between the two.

There is another big name classic car insurer who does daily drivers. I usually price shop between the two (Grundy and Hagerty). I think Grundy will even insure your "other" daily drivers like Honda and Toyota.

Re: Finished my 64 two days ago and this happened!!!!
How it looks as of Saturday 9/2/17. Just need an alignment
I also took the time to install a remote transmission cooler behind the front bumper. I upgraded to a 4 core radiator 3 days before the accident and there was not a trans cooler built in.

Re: Finished my 64 two days ago and this happened!!!!
Update 9/8/17
Got the truck aligned and got it home. Drives good. Now I need to finish working out the Gremlins I was working on before. The exhaust has a leak and needs some work as it is too close to the starter and brake lines. A few days before the accident I ordered Dakota Digital VHX gauges because I wanted a tach and temp display. I have the new display installed, the sensors installed, relays run, but need to wire the controller up under the dash. Getting closer.
