Re: Going up Hwy 11
I've driven part of the SC 11 state road, as well as SC 28, US 19, US 64/74, and many of the Western NC highways. Always fun. US 11/11W/11E from VA through Bristol, TN all the way through Knoxville, down into Etowah and Chattanooga, then down into GA is a great drive. 11W passes through Rogersville, TN, where my parents grew up. Before the interstate, 11W was the main road from Kingsport, TN and Knoxville, TN The old 2 lane part of the highway had lots of turns and blind hills because it flowed with the landscape instead of cutting through like the modern 4 lane parts. There used to be so many wrecks, it was nicknamed Bloody 11W. It's great listening to my dad talk about the heavy traffic from the travelers, and commercial trucks driving through downtown during his childhood in the 50's and 60's before they built the 4 lane bypass.

Re: Going up Hwy 11
Hwy 28 is one of the most curviest roads I have ever drove on and it is a heavily traveled road today. Some nice backroads are just in the western parts on SC,NC and east Tenn. for sure.

Also, the section of US 64/74 between Charlotte and Asheville, NC is an amazing road. We traveled it in the 2014 Power Tour.

Re: Going up Hwy 11
No, it's TN hwy 61 from Andersonville, TN to Blaine, TN and cuts through Big Ridge State Park. If one wants to be seriously adventurous, take 131 at Luttrel, TN over to Joppa Mtn Road, which ends up on 11W at Rutledge, TN.

Re: Going up Hwy 11
Thanks man, I might try to check that out if I am ever over TN again. I grew up going hunting and shooting in a very rural area.....we would joke "the road surveyors were all drunk."
