The truck falls in what they call the grey market. The years there was most pollution coming out of these engines according to CARB.

Can you please explain this.
I don’t know what that means
I’ve registered many trucks (in CA) and never heard of it

Wow. That’s a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo

Have you brought the truck to dmv and tried registering it ?

Where is it titled now?
I guess if it’s out of the country, Different rules could apply
But, I would still get a weight certificate, and bring it in.
My experience is CA DMV is pretty lenient on old vehicles

I didn’t even think there was even a smog pump on these trucks till 69 or so

My opinion, I think it was probably not terribly common, was something to squeeze a little extra power out of your engine. If that's not a priority, there's no real reason to add the ducting.

Re: YOU guys get to decide! All votes and suggestions welcome.

now that's a sticky wicket!

I'm fairly versed with fmvss stuff at work but not sure if canadian builds comply or had decals back then..

got one of these on door or door jamb?

likely us dot compliant so may have.. but unlikely ca emissions labeled..

you may have some challenges ahead but I'd try what ChevyLand suggested and see what happens..

only hangup may be dmv only vin verification instead of chp option which may prove more difficult..

I'll read through later but is this one time verification only or does your import get enrolled in biennial test program?

good luck!

Here is whats required of me.

https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/de.../howto/htvr09a

Ive done everything. Need to vin. Verify again because the orginal verificatin messed up causing Sac. DMV to raise a red flag leading me to go through the ringer now. A DMV employees mistake is causing all of this. Needs to be vin. verified again. Truck was built for federal standards. I just need to get the truck up and running again to do this. Original mechanic did me wrong. Had to cut my losses which were big.

Re: YOU guys get to decide! All votes and suggestions welcome.

I used to have a intake breather with plumbing to the cold stream in front of the grill on my 70 C10 with a 383/700R4 and it made very little difference.

I now have a normal round breather that looks great and produces just as much hp punch as before.

So because I did the leg work years ago I now just look for the set up the looks and functions the best. The added power is just not there.
