thinking of selling my truck

Well, here is a take on this from someone with a little years on them.

First off, if you really like this truck, you will regret selling. You'll always think about, even if it's 30 years from now. I still think and dream about some of the cars I have owned. I would give anything to have some of them back.

But, I fully understand your situation. You must do what is right for you. Your education is most important. A truck is just a truck. There are a ton more of them in your area, so they're not scarce. There were more of these things made and sold by GM than any other vehicle. No matter what anyone says, they're not scarce and will be a very long time before they are in the collector stage, such as the 67-72's are now.

You have put a ton of money in this truck. Expect to maybe get half what you put into it if you sell it. Anything above this is gravy. One more thing to think about is the fact you are like me and love to piss money away on senseless stuff. I call it senseless because it just flat out don't make any sense to be doing it. But damn, it sure is fun. So with this in mind, think about what you will be doing when you do buy another vehicle. It won't be long before you are throwing money at it. It's not if, but when.

Sure, you can get a car that will be better on gas, and maybe be more dependable. Like said above, these trucks, after modding them, are not daily drivers, but toys. If you have no where to store it until you get the money and time to mess with it, by all means, sell it to someone who will give it a good home. My truck needs a paint job, but I couldn't stand the thoughts of it sitting outside. If I didn't have my shop to park it in, I would probably get rid of it too.

So, the final word is do what is right for you. None of us can make this decision for you. Think about what it is you want and need. Don't make a decision in haste. Also, remember, you are young. You will have plenty of time to do this again someday. Look at me. I did. I did what I had to do when I was younger. I done a lot of stupid stuff, but again, I did what I felt was right for me at the time. Believe me, I would have loved to have had a nice truck or car to play with, but it wasn't in the cards at the time. So, I waited until I was much older to play again. It's just as much fun now as it was then. Maybe more fun now.

IMO keep your truck. Like everyone else said, Discipline yourself and stop putting money into it untill you graduate.

Put the truck in storage and get a g-body. They don't have to look like a granny car and than when you graduate you'll have 2 money pits instead on 1.

Offer to swap your motor for a stock 350 & cash then just put all the a/c stuff back on & you have a daily driver w/a/c. Hell, just put a/c on your current set-up & be done w/it.... for now.

Since you just put that motor in, if you sell now you'll lose your arse big unless you have a bud that's interested & knows what the motors all about. And, as we both know, trucks w/o a/c go for much less than those with.... especially in Tx.
