Vortec heads won’t work with a standard small block intake, they require a vortec intake.

Lopey idle cams suck gas and kill bottom end power.better think this thru..................... Plus valve springs, lifters will need changing.........

As stated, no can do with Vortec heads. But you don't want the 2bbl. I don't know what the bad you've been hearing is, but a smaller cfm 4bbl will consume less fuel cruising and throw a heap more power to it when you mash it.
