Love your truck, I have a 72. What tires and lift do you have?

Lift is 2" tuff country springs front and back. Tires are 32x11.50 Cooper Discoverer A/T. I like the look of the lift, but it's difficult to get in and out of truck. Thinking real hard about lowering truck next summer. I wanted truck to sit just slightly higher than stock, the 2" seems more like 4" to me.

I would have a really hard time letting go of a truck like yours. There just can't be that many stockers left.

Re: Pic Thread: Me & My Truck(s) 2018

I'm in! The year started with the old 305 expired with a bad main bearing. That virtually nonexistent oil pressure caught up with me. Got a new 350 installed with a new radiator, 7 blade clutch fan & shroud, battery tray and other things I don't remember now. Back on the road in May. Aligned the new drive line I installed the week prior to the 305 giving out. I took the noisy rear end in for new bearings and seals. Discovered the carrier was breaking apart. The 305' s monster torque. Now I have a new carrier with 3.73 instead of 3.07's. I dropped the fuel tank to fix the leaking sender.

Pulled the 283 for some detailing last winter as well. Also added a 4-barrel and swapped the power glide for a th350.

Re: Pic Thread: Me & My Truck(s) 2018

Busy year. After 2600 miles the new engine's valve train failed. Pulled the heads and the shop reworked them. Back on the road and suffered a couple of electrical failures. One at home with ever exciting smoke from under the dash and the other one on the highway. Complete loss of ignition. Whoo hoo! Replaced the worn out generic fuel pressure regulator. Had to replace the brand new motor mounts I installed with the new engine. The Napa ones just weren't up to the torque of the new 350. I finally figured the major air leak for the bags was from inside of one of my new guages. So in the next week I will replace it and the air compressor. It takes 15+ minutes to come up to pressure and that's just too long.
For complete details on all these items and more. Tune in to the WMB thread below.

OK enough about me. Who's next?

I'd say 2018 was a good year for you. All set for next year, too. I'd say your truck is 4" over stock and no less. My tires are right about 32" (285/75-16) and my wheels are 8" with a 4" lift for comparison.

The winner of the 700R4 didnt need it so he put it on Facebook for sale and i bought it. I have factory 373's in my truck so the 700R4

You've done a nice selection of changes on that already sweet truck.

Just looks like different wheels to me. Just being a jerk. That's like a whole other truck under the skin this year. Nice got nicer.

I think you have the perfect keep around for when you need it/enjoy it when you do trucks. Always more out there? You already have one. If you don't need the money, why sell it. Just start it and pull it out every so often. Do you have a cat?

I read all the things some of you have done to your trucks this year and am realizing I did nothing to mine. I did the annual stuff before it hits the road and one oil change mid-summer but that's it. I hit the road with a good bit of fresh work the year before.

I did a lot of work earlier this year for a friend's place. It's a farm house on some nice land. It's all 2-lanes here to there across the county SW to NE.

I did a lot of interior work. She had me do a cool kitchen counter top. We got this reclaimed white oak. The guy said the tree, that the beam the boards were made from, was 250 years old by the rings and it came from a 250 year old building. I felt privileged to be able to work with it. A little nervous!

Thanks. That wood was nice! She had me freshen up the look of her kitchen w/o a total remodel. The cabinets are nice custom solid cherry. The walls were covered with the old 1/4" paneling that had been painted. I put that beaded wainscot/porch ceiling style panel up. She's creative and artsy so it was my hands carrying out her vision. I like how it all turned out. She made it her own. I wish all I did was go old house to old house doing nice things like this all the while working out of a classic truck. That's a dream I've wanted to live

Fine job on the remodel. Love the countertop and beadboard backsplash. That's a country kitchen now!

Nice work on the kitchen. Just a couple of questions if I might. How did you plane the surface flat and what did you use for a finish?
Thanks for sharing!

Mostly just drove it around town - always comes in handy for things like lumber, Christmas tree and what have you. The kid and her friend got excited when I went to pick them up after school the other day - her friend had never been in an "old car" before and thought it was the coolest thing

I did a few things to it:

Grill got flat black paint
Installed battery disconnect switch
Installed MC/prop valve/power booster and NICOPP lines from prop valve to unions

Very nice work. If you went from old house to old house working out of a classic truck I would suggest you film it. You could call your show, This old farm house and my truck.

Re: Pic Thread: Me & My Truck(s) 2018

Thanks everybody. That 71 3/4t is looking good. What's great about these trucks is they are classic vehicles ready for chores. I just go by my name in business these days, although the company name I used since the early-80s is still the official name. It's just me and I'm not putting up any facade. But I do think about hanging a sign out front and getting serious going for only historic work. I have a name thought up already, "The Old Home Folks".

I bought that wood as planed 4-side 1" stock. I used biscuits and glue to make sections. Once sections were assembled I used casting resin in knots, nail holes, joints, anywhere with a gap or seam. By the time I belt sanded that down I had a nice plane across the top. I put the two sections at that inside corner together in place, resin, put up a dust barrier, fan in the window and sanded away. The finish is polyurethane, satin Helmsman. That's what I used on my butcher block counters I did years years ago. But I did another kitchen counter top since then and used Waterlox. She wanted poly in her kitchen, but that's what I like best these days.

Added pictures... and one of the truck in a rare moment these days... No cap or ladder racks!

Thank you for the information. It looks very nice and the Herringbone joint in the corner is great. Not many people these days would put the extra effort into doing it that way.

Quite a bit of driving this year, no updates at all.
The boards get a fresh coat of oil once a year.. Actually put enough miles on, need to rotate some tires. Last pic, we've had 22 in snow in an 8 day span the end of November..

I did a few things to it:

Grill got flat black paint
Installed battery disconnect switch
Installed MC/prop valve/power booster and NICOPP lines from prop valve to unions

I bought the whole MC/prop valve/power booster assembly from board member "PICKMUP".

From the numbers stamped on it, I believe it's a CPP unit.
