I am with you on the rest. I guess I am just bored of all the gingerbread cookie cutter show trucks... I suppose its no different than any other niche community. I am not a ford fan but, there are some pretty sick old school fords coming out lately and SBS's Indy truck is beautiful- I LOVE the wheels they made for it! I think I am going to build another minitruck next... I want to bring back the mini truck aka boom trucks! I grew up in Florida and in the early 90s that is what it was all about. I had three slammed B2200s! Then, I can use my C10 to tow my mini to shows. I gotta say though... I am loving the trucks in this thread so far... some damn nice daily drivers and hardworking trucks! Keep them coming.

Re: Long live the Daily Driver
I enjoy this site and talking to like-minded folks. I have owned my '78 for 30 years, it was only 10 years old when my dad helped me buy it from the original owner. My dad used it as our roofing truck for 2 years and then it became mine. So 28 years later and it is still my daily driver. I have driven her coast to coast in the Air Force and have hauled everything from trash to a '56 GMC with her. I agree with you, I like finding new things to do to her as time goes on. When I get home I will upload a pic or two.
Keep on truckin'

Re: Long live the Daily Driver
My "weekend driver" due to having a company daily driver. I want to keep the aged look of my 86. I'm the third owner, and simply catching up on deferred maintenance. My only upgrade will be updating to a 4 speed manual and/or just going to a Hurst floor shifter due to worn out column shifter.

Re: Long live the Daily Driver
Dig what's happenin here!
My daily is one of them "been with me through thick and thin" girls. Picked her up for nothin when I had nothin and she was even my house for a brief moment. I'm blessed to be in a position where I can slowly fix her up and add an upgrade or two. Working on a 98 vortec to drop in her now...LS's are cool but adding a Holly Sniper EFI is about as radical as the old school fella can get. I do like my Belltech suspension though It's been a 10 year process that'll probably take another 10 years...I hope it takes that long!

Re: Long live the Daily Driver
I drove my 68 daily for years until it got side-swiped & insurance totaled it. The check paid for my 74 which I then drove daily for 10yrs until I traded it for my dually.
My dually was a daily driver until the upgrades. It seems now that it's just to risky to drive it daily. Insurance won't cover it for it's value under those circumstances & thieves love older iron. I drive it when I want & can keep it in sight. My 64 will be the same once it pounds the streets.....

I drive my blazer every day as my daily to school and other places. It will be changed out later since the motor is getting tired but ill deal with that problem when it comes.

My favorite HOT ROD cover! I work in conservation so there is no shortage of PRIUS' here... I should recreate this with my C10.

Re: Long live the Daily Driver
Old cars and trucks as daily drivers is just how I roll. Lol, pun intended. I had my wife daily driving an '88 Burb for several years and over 100k miles. But I changed jobs which put me out of town a lot and I couldn't keep up with the maintenance. I got her a somewhat nicer '86 Burb and she put around 50k on that one. She wanted something 'newer' so now she has an '00 Burb and has put over 80k on that. For several years, I drove my trusty '84 C10 every day, at a minimum of 70 miles a day. But now as I'm often out of town, my 'daily' drivers get used much less. For the last year, my daily has been a '78 Burb.
That's a nice looking 154 you got there.

Re: Long live the Daily Driver
I posted my previous just as I was leaving work and I went outside to this... funny how life works. Maybe I should have wished for a bag of money to LS and bag my truck instead!

Blazer is 372k Yukon XL is 178k I'm the second and fifth/sixth?? owner of Blazer. Second owner of Yukon XL

Re: Long live the Daily Driver
Here ya go: First pic is from a car show in NC this summer, that is my brother's rat rod. Second pic is a fun pic where I recreated a pose from 1990. Third pic is circa 2004, when my daughter was still just a tike. The last one is the most current shot.

Re: Long live the Daily Driver
Knowing there is a community of people out there who enjoy driving old stuff as much as I do is awesome. Not many friends these days have the same appreciation. Its "cool" but not their cup of tea...
Traded the 03 jetta tdi for burb and the swapping, upgrading started almost immediately. Im a "ford" guy, but not willing to spend the $$$ it takes to swap a coyote into something... So the burb with a 5.3 4l80e swap had to do. |

My '78 Burb that I've been driving daily for the last year. It's not the prettiest, but it's comfortable and runs just like new.
