I forgot to mention that!! I replaced the calipers, front pads, rear shoes, wheel cylinders, and added power brakes just 3 months ago. Thanks for the idea!!!

I think you will be fine

The longest trip i have taken my truck away from home has been about 300 mile from home....but i was still neverous about it. Remember, if it breaks you can fix it on the side of the road. Try doing that with a new truck

Just a comment on the Fix-A-Flat...good idea for those of us without spares (heh) but from what I've heard, tire-guys HATE HATE HATE it. It's apparently some rather toxic stuff. So, if you do use it, make very sure when you go get the tire fixed properly that you let them know you used fix-a-flat.

Other than that...flog it!

(Of course, I got a '73 Opel GT from Hollywood to Phoenix on a wing and a prayer, so I think my luck is on the good side!)

Yeah...tire guys to hate that fix-a-flat stuff. I have put it in my tires before, only to take it to the tire shop to get fixed, and hear the tire guy cussign about it. They say it makes it really hard to find the leak. Also, i put some in a Ford Tempo company car a i had once, and the stuff gave me a wicked vibration in the tire at 70mph. However, it you are stuck in the pouring rain with a tire that is going flat, it is great stuff.

I always carry a little package of plugs for tubless tires and the tools to put them in. I did use it once on my daughters car. Kept me from having to change a flat and she was ago to get to the tire place here.

Hey man chill out don't you trust your truck!!! I've made the trip 3 time from NC to nebraska which is roughly about 1700 miles too. My old 71 the worst problem i had was overheating cause i need a 4 core radiatior. so my advice would be to take an extra radiator hose, you're spare tire, some tools, jumper cables, extra fluids, a carton of smokes, some good cd's, and don't forget to take your wallet out of your pocket!!! (OUCH) pinched psiactic nerves suck!!! Have a nice safe trip!!

Thanks WRMZ71!! I trust my truck, and I wouldn't be so worried, but I don't want to get stranded with the wife. If it was just me I wouldn't care..but I like the wife and she doesn't need the stress. I keep remembering that people used to drive the trucks cross country all of the time back in the day.
