Re: Where is everybody finding them?
you should be able to find plenty of trucks for that price, but are they really worth that price, and I mean that strictly from the body and paint perspective, and we assume the mechanics are sound
you are at that price point where you will be paying for a flip or a truck painted with lies, ha ha, I prefer an old paint truck because nothing has been hidden, I don't mean to scare you at all, but know the critical points to check for rust 1. battery box area, the battery tray may have been replaced but... 2. radiator core support right below battery tray, good cores are impossible to find, most require welding repair 3. the front of the passenger side inner fender again below the battery tray 4. floor boards, ask to remove the floor mats, and if possible lift up the carpet and peak underneath 5. the bed has it been covered up with something? look around where the gas filler tube is on the inside of the bed, and around the inside wheel wells 6. how badly bowed is the tailgate, ha ha, or how many pounds of bondo are making it appear straight 7. rear cab corners of course just trying to help, g |

Re: Where is everybody finding them?
You need to do a fly and buy out here on the west coast if you want truly rust free. Or just factor in $1000 for shipping if you want to go that route.

Re: Where is everybody finding them?
I recently bought some Ground Force lowering springs for my C30 from a gentleman north of cincinnati who says that Washington State has some decent deals. I forget what city he was in, but he said he has family up there and will check out the CL and FB marketplace before going out there to see if anything peaks his interest. He says there are a decent amount of rust free but less expensive squares out there than you'd typically find in the Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana area.
I use Autotempest.com when searching for cars. It is just searchtempest, but more specifically catered towards vehicles.

Re: Where is everybody finding them?
There's a k10 in Lebanon junction. Green step side a 79. Not awful but 3500 so lots of room up upgrades/restoration.

Re: Where is everybody finding them?
Welp, still looking guess that means i need to bump the ol' budget up.
Maybe look for something further up the scale ... a "finished" truck.

Re: Where is everybody finding them?
We actually had someone start a Craigslist finders thread that gets a lot of trucks posted to it. Another thing to look at is Facebook marketplace if you have Facebook. Only reason I keep it.

Re: Where is everybody finding them?
I know not everybody is too keen on Facebook with all their behind the scenes mining for user information, but I'm in several 73-87 Squarebody groups on there, and they always have guys selling trucks for everything from $300 to as high as $18,000, the average is around $5000, so your budget should get you a pretty good ride. Good luck in your search, 4 years ago I found a 1986 with minimal rust, and a rust free cab on it for $1500, so the deals are out there, just got to wait and look for the one you want to pop up.
