I did this one in place, removed the fan, shroud, ac and alternator, polished the firewall, painted the accessories and the engine, it was real rusty, covered in mouse turds and gm blue...

X2 on painting in place. I used to use a spray nozzle with a tube like the the type that is on spray lube can help getting into the nooks and crannies without getting overspray everywhere. Test it on some cardboard first to get the feel of the spray tube.

I think a stroker 305 is cool. I wanted to build one years ago but never did. Paint it to your taste and run it.

If you want a new motor or more power put a eBay turbo kit on the 305 and get all the tire frying out of your system, then on the side slowly build the motor you want. If you have time it'd be cheaper to find used parts then buy all new. Then once the new motor is ready sell the old one.
