Re: - Retiring -
Kieth, Sorry that I am a little late on this. I retired in 2015 and took a year to decompress then decided I was bored (mainly because I needed/wanted more money for toys) and went back to work... I retired young (44yrs old) so, I am sure that had a lot to do with it. I'd like to echo everyone's praise toward your contribution here. I learn so much from your posts and value your opinion... I am sure that knowledge can be used in a way that brings in more money on top of that retirement. I am a born die-hard GM fan so, just having access to your brain is a blessing!!! Good luck, Congrats, and when you come to Hawaii look me up! - Frank

Re: - Retiring -
Congratulations Keith - even if it was unplanned ahead of time, you get to have a little more fun now with the next journey! You could probably release a series of books with what you know and have learned over the years at GM.
Thanks for always being an encyclopedia-on-demand for this forum, and I can't wait to see where you go from here! From: A random internet fan. |

Re: - Retiring -
Man, I’ve been retired 20 days and I’m bored as hell. Snowed like every other day. Prob gonna get at least a part time job. Was pretty stoked to retire at 49 but too cold to work in garage and only get my kids 1/2 the time

Congratulations Keith! It's been a big part of your life and I hope you got a good chunk of change to enjoy and explore the next phase of life with. Maybe even enough to get another square body to work on? Thanks for all of your input here.

Re: - Retiring -
Congrats Keith, that's awesome. I retired once, got a second 'career', now work twice as much as before - I'd avoid that trap if at all possible
Enjoy, obviously quite an accomplishment. Did the "package" include a trailer full of old Truck Data Books? |

Re: - Retiring -
Congratulations Keith, you have earned your retirement and then some. Something to occupy your time helps with not working everyday, i about went crazy until I found something, so working on my truck, or fishing / nature walks helped. I also hope they gave you a fat package, and a truck load of stuff to share.

Re: - Retiring -
That's Awesome! Enjoy every minute of it! I do hope your retirement is limited to GM and not the forum, your knowledge on "Squares" is unmatched.
I'm 32 years in (UPS) and would like to do 3 more, but I might retire tomorrow. LOL One thing is for sure, I will not die wishing I'd spent more time at work!

Re: - Retiring -
Congratulations.
My brother had about the same amount of service when he retired from GM management many years ago. He retired on a Friday and went back to work as a contract employee on the following Monday. That is a common theme in large corporations to manage the salaried workforce after reduction in force. I suspect that you might end up doing the same thing. It is very difficult to reduce the salaried (especially engineering) workforce without some significant problems. Qualified engineers, regardless of the field, are always hard to find and have transferable skills in different industries. You can't beat retirement as long as you have your health and enough resources to sustain a comfortable lifestyle. Now you can exercise those old blue Pontiac horses more often. |

Re: - Retiring -
You should write books on concours restoration aspects of these trucks-put your hard earned knowledge in writing and derive an income from that.

Congratulations Mr. Keith Seymore. Thank you for always being willing to share the wealth of knowledge you possess with this board.
Consider yourself lucky for even being offered a "package". By the time my generation (millennial) reaches retirement age, the only package we'll be receiving is a boot in the a.....
